Todays photos of the day is in tribute to the winningest pitcher of the major leagues, Denton True Young. Other than having the Cy Young award named after him, this pitcher for the Red Sox, Cleveland Naps (Named for their leader Nap Lajoie) who would eventually become the Indians, Cleveland Spiders, Boston Rustlers and the St. Louis Perfectos would go on to win 511 games during his career. He had an amazing ERA of 2.63 with 76 shutouts and three no hitters to his credit. While we will never see a 500 game winner ever again, we still have images of this baseball great.

I feel the same way you do and I think that is maybe why I seek out these photos. I have had the great pleasure to speak with and hear stories of so many old timers but they are dropping off fast. Eventually all we will have is these photos and I feel like I am keeping baseball history alive by posting what I find and giving some of the history behind the players we all have heard about. Sometimes I think I am boruing everyone by giving the history lessons with the pictures but I figure there has to be someone out there who didnt know some of the facts I post. LOL

I do appreciate the kind words and I hope everyone enjoys this stuff as much as I do posting it.
