There could be multiple bats so the player can still use one that day if the first one was to break.

There are multiple pink bats issued to each player. MLB authenication # should tell you if it was used during the game.

I believe I read somewhere (im not sure what year) that 3 per player were given to them. I think after the first year it caught on and more players wanted to get in on it. MLB wanted to auction them off for charity but the players wanted them for themselves and their mom's. So I remember one year 3 bats, with at least 1 being turned over to MLB.

Anyone else recall the article?
