Just got back from the Pittsburgh Pirates caravan, where they basically split some guys up into a few groups, throw them on some buses, and do traveling fan fests around Pennsylvania (and some of Ohio I believe). They had some pics there kind of done like jumbo cards for fans to get signed. My scanner crapped out, so these pics will have to do.

In attendance for this group were Steve Blass (broadcaster, former pitcher with '71 World Series Pirates), Nick Leyva (3rd base coach), Brad Lincoln (pitcher), and some guy named Andrew McCutchen (maybe he's related to Daniel?).

Steve Blass was the friendliest of the bunch, and was great with the kids.

Nick Leyva was sending texts on his cell phone, and would sign a pic or two, put them out in front of him to take, and then go back to texting.

Brad Lincoln was signing the pics like a fiend and putting them out, but he also talked to people as they came buy, and seemed pretty likeable.

And finally, Andrew McCutchen. He was also friendly and was clowning around with some of the kids as they came up.

Thanks for looking!

Sweet AMc!

Are those giveaways they had or something you Custom-made?

They were giveaways. Each guy had a stack of them at the table to sign for fans who didn't bring anything with them. I was going to get some ticket stubs signed, but decided to just go with their cards.

Nice stuff!

I'm taking my 4 year old to Piratefest on saturday. He's really excited to meet some real ball players.

The photocards are 4x6, and really are pretty nice. I like that the photos for current players are all action shots. The previous versions were always posed studio photos, and didn't look nearly as sharp.

I always ask for an extra unsigned card when I'm at events like this. I'm almost never turned down.

you guys are lucky . At least i have my minors
For what it's worth, this is the first time the Pirates have rolled through my local area. They're usually 45 minutes away at their closest stops, and I've managed to miss those every year for one reason or another.

I'm glad you were able to attend a Winter Caravan event Brennan. I always enjoy going to these more than PirateFest. it's always cool to hear how the players are interacting with the fans.

If anyone goes next year to the Pirates Caravan, PLMK. I've got something I'd absolutely love to get auto'd by him (a ticket from the game where he hit his first MLB homer, which I went to and they threw the ball back ::facepalm:: )

And, very awesome ! I can't wait for the Twins one to hopefully roll up to Ely and then for Twinsfest !
