The Pirates plan to push third base prospect Pedro Alvarez aggressively through their farm system.
"If Pedro's ready to go, we're going to be aggressive with him," said director of player development, Kyle Stark. "It depends on what we see from him, how he adjusts to the game, what kind of shape he's in, a lot of factors." Alvarez is likely to skip a few levels of rookie ball and could begin next season at Single-A.
