Sanchez is a guy that has value beyond stats. He can play 3 different position, and is a great contact hitter. He can spell your whole infield in the span of a week, and is a sprk plug at the top of the order. I wish my Tigers would have taken a stab at him.

I hear you. He would have been a solid upgrade at second for Twins as well. I'll take the .300 average over the buck fifty Casilla is yielding.

Giants overpaid but I'm okay with the addition of Sanchez. 2B was a big hole on this team. Anyways Alderson will be replaced by Zack Wheeler as the second best pitching prospect in the system.

As for Tim Alderson cards. How much lower can they go? Before today's trade chrome autos were going for less then $15 and refractor autos for less then $20.

He hasn't exactly been dominating AA. He's been giving up 4ER a game and not getting many K's. If he continues average outings in AA for the Pirates he will be forgotten pretty quickly. To get hobby attention on a losing team you've got to put up some killer stats.

The reports out of connecticut regarding Alderson have been pretty underwhelming this season. His velocity has been down, he isn't getting many swing throughs and his BAA isn't great. The giants had him pegged as a #2 and he's looking more and more like a backend guy. I always thought he'd end up being most effective out of the pen. This trade will be good for both teams. I am surprised that it took Alderson but you've got to give to get.

I've always though him and Bumgarner were a bit overrated. This happens a lot of times when someone dominates A ball. That A-AA jump is a true test. Both of them have been solid in AA ,but no where near as dominating as they were in the lower levels.

This is a really good trade for the Giants. Sanchez will hit lots of doubles and triples in AT&T Park since it is so open. He can drive in all of the guys that the Giants leave on base. Plus Alderson would only be a #4 starter in SF.

Are you serious? Bumgarner is 7-1 with a 1.90 ERA at AA.

Im sure there are going to be quite alot of prospectors who think that San Fran made a huge mistake. But they are getting a proven player who is above average offensively and maybe more importantly is a good team leader. Yes they gave up a good prospect, but you dont go to the trade deadline when you are in a playoff hunt and trade for the future you trade to win now. Only time will tell who got the better end of the deal.
