Blitzerlover's John Smoltz collection:
http://s153.photobucket.com/albums/s234 ... er/Smoltz/
Stats: 945/4082= 23% I like to think I have more than 23%, because at least 500 cards are from Moments and Milestones, which I don't really consider to be unique cards.
I started collecting Smoltz when I got back into collecting about 3 years ago. I was a huge fan of the Braves Big 3 in the 90s, Maddux was my favorite of the 3. I considered collecting him, but his stuff was to expensive for me, and he wasn't a career Brave (which Smoltz was at this point). Smoltz was one of the pitchers who always seemed to keep his team in the game, even when he didn't have his best stuff. He always did what the team needed him to, and he was one of the best playoff pitchers in history. Plus his slider was fifthly back in the day.
Now to the collection:
I have 16 autos, here are a few of my favorites:
This is the first card I got for my Smoltz collection, it is also the first card I ever traded for online. I got it from Darocker back on the old Beckett boards. I love this card, the design is perfect, its as good as a sticker auto can look.
I recently bought this card to go with it. Is to gold version of the card pictured right before it. Is it any different besides numbering and color of the foil? Nope. But it is still awesome.
This is also from 07 Premier, I loved Premier as a player collector. It had some great looking auto subsets.
I love 05 SP authentic. These are 2 of my favorite cards, I have no idea why. The sticker is ugly, but I love the design.
Everybody loves buybacks.
I got this card for an absolute steal off of ebay, but I noticed why after I had won it. The seller had 2 feedback and was from the Dominican Republic. It took me about 2 months to get it, and I got it on the same day I asked for a refund.
I love the way the silver signature pops from the black and white background.
Ultimate is just a great looking set.
His rookie cards auto'd in his older signature.
Gotta love the baldness.
Now for some of my favorite inserts:
Got this for $15. 15! Crazy.
One of the toughest 90's inserts to find. Gold Embossed refractor. Looks awesome in person, like an xfractor on top of a gold refractor. Odds for pulling one of these were crazy.
Z Axis Die cut. From 1998 /'d to 20
Much, much more can be seen in my bucket. Just wanted to show a few of my favorites.
And I'll end with my absolute favorite card in my collection:
I love this card.
