For some reason the first thing that came to mind is Cosigners Changing Faces (Then again, my guy is in the background but I've got some). Others would include:
Unstamped-backdoored serial numbered cards
ridiculous print variations (thinking of YOU onionring! )
show stamped cards from pacific (for some reason DLP is ok, no reasoning behind this)
blank front/bank/printing errors

I don't collect anything I don't have yet, until I do.

I don't collect most newer issues of base and inserts. There are too many parallels and print runs don't mean much anymore.

For me it's only cards. I tend not to go for minor league cards, but I do have some in my collection. Memorabilia doesn't interest me much for some reason.

These stupid things

I bought about 6 of these from one seller and figured I would fill holes over time. I received them and am almost willing to swear that many of them are printed out and immediately sold on ebay. I will however fill holes if they come in other lots that I buy.

I don't go after anything that wasn't issued during the years he actually played. I won't turn down the new stuff, but it isn't a priority. Cards issued during their playing days just seem to hit home with me.

I completely agree! The players I collect are retired and I can't see buying or spending my time trying to keep up with all the new cards. There are some nice cards that are newer but there are far too many things that I don't have from my players actually played the game.

Bobbleheads!

I don't know what it is but I absolutely refuse to buy them. I don't have too many non card items to begin with but I refuse to have a bobblehead Chavez in my collection.

I no longer collect the following:

print plates = just plain ugly

Game Used anything on a card = I have doubts as to what is real and what is really game used. Good luck determining if a really nice patch is real these days.

Any 1/1 card = Every set has a 1/1 now, so they are not really that big of a deal to me. Most don't even look much different other than have a 1/1 stamped on it and a different color background. Maybe I would pick up a mid 90's 1/1 some day.

Modern auto cards = Too many damn parallels and most are on those damn ugly stickers.

I guess the biggest reason is the pricing of all the above. I find it much easier financially to stick with base, parallels, and inserts. Those alone keep me busy. 2007 had 180 Andruw's and 2008 had 209 Andruw's. Those are minus all of the above, so there is still plenty to collect.

M+M for my past player collections. Just glad Markakis wasn't in it.

i do agree the m&m have taken away from the 1/1 and player collecting, but lucky enough my player isnt in that set

I think the M&M was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I had collected Frank Thomas until around '97 and didn't start back until '05 so now I just go for GU, auto, and cards that catch my eye. I mainly focus on Ryan Sweeney and usually go for anything except Plates until I decided to pick up one that is not "naked" and more of a card like the one below.

I have set the ridiculously lofty goal of trying to get at least 1 of every game used or auto'd card non 1/1 for Dawson. But, I flat out refuse to EVAR buy 1 of these travesties.

Crap1.jpg

These are the stupidest, laziest, ugliest Dawson cards I have ever seen. Do you mean to tell me that Topps doesn't have a picture of him in an Expos uniform? They used Expos patches, labeled it as an Expos card, and then recycled the exact same picture they used for 2007 Triple Threads.

Look familiar?
