No problem. No hard feelings. As I stated earlier in the post, they appear to be samples used during the printing process. My guess is that they were samples of different printing techniques? They are legit Fleer that were not to see the light of day. I totally trust the guy who picked these up for me. I guess they have no real value other than to player collectors who like to have oddities in their collection.

Gotcha, no worries. Perhaps they were printers scrap and/or uncut sheets that were later cut up. If I had to take a wild guess... that's where I'd be.

I'm pretty sure these were originally sold as uncut sheets. I saw an uncut sheet sell on ebay in August

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313&_fvi=1&_rdc=1

and the differences matched up exactly. I guess its possible Fleer released promos and sheets though, but they are definitely real/genuine stuff. And probably rare nonetheless, I wish Clark was on the sheet/proofs/samples!

There was probably more than 1 sheet out there then because I have 3 or 4 panels (2 cards) that feature Andruw with another player. Here's an example of what I am talking about.

Do you have multiple proof variations in the background for your Andruw collection or are they identical other than the player attached to him or are they different from the regular issued card? I'm not too worried about it, but would like to get as much info as possible about these. You know me, I'm all about the promos/samples/proofs!! Those sheets definitely differ from the base cards though, so very similar to what henderson939 has

Just seems like a die-hard player collector as I am would have seen copies of these (or known of their existence) sooner than now. That's my reason to be skeptical I guess especially due to the proliferation of "proof" cards over the last 2-3 years. I'm sure you can understand my opinion and hopefully see where I am coming from.

To be honest, I felt the same way at first. I had never heard of these cards before, and there are so many scammers hawking "proofs", "rare samples", and the like. I questioned henderson939 a bit about them before doing the trade. As I said before, I'm happy now to have these cards in my Olerud collection. There are indeed very nice looking cards and neat oddball issues.

I bought the Rivera cards. I'm fairly sure these aren't "bogus" other than that they were likely done up by the printers to make a few bucks on the side. The way these are made would be extremely difficult to duplicate.

The ones I have are all finished on the front with a couple of them being blank backed. I bought them a few years back from a seller who bought a collection of uncut sheets containing sheets from fleer, Topps and pacific and was cutting them up.

I didn't see this thread until now and am greatly bummed the Rodrick has two great cards now that I missed out on. GRRRRRRR (Waves fist in air). These kind of proofs/samples/etc are one that are always tough to decide on whether to go after or just say hmmmm and just grab a pic for knowledge that they exist. I'd gather these samples whether from sheet or elsewhere are just items that are starting to get out as people dig further and further from what they bought during fleer bankruptcy auctions. Thanks for putting up the scans. I'll be happy jsut having those in my virtual collection.

Rodrick, did you also pick up the Sample that you posted about?

Yeah, I decided to go for it, and was the only bidder so I got for $6.99. Also just won an auction for the 1994 Bowman's Best Olerud/Green Refractor (which for some reason I could never get) for 11 cents! Cool!
