I used to think that I needed to focus on just one or two player collections. I decided to go ahead and collect the guys I want. So from baseball I collect Adam Dunn, Pete Rose, and Chris Sabo. I also have a small Ken Griffey Jr. collection, but I don't really pick much Jr. stuff up anymore. Then I have a player collection of Rey Maualuga in football.

JOE!!! you finally took the leap into the chris sabo collecting subculture? congrats and good luck!

Andruw and Saltalamacchia

Only collecting Salty because my girl fell in love with him a couple years ago and I sorta use it as my justification for buying more Andruws :D

I had no idea so many people collected Sabo. Maybe someone will make a game used goggle card.

I collect Dawson and Williams. Only gu and autos for the later though, idk why.

Stopped collecting Rich Hill after he got traded, and stopped collecting other Cubs as well. Too much. :)

Aside from Omar Vizquel, I have a nearly complete collection of Charles Nagy, only missing about 10 (non 1/1) cards.

I also only need 1 more card (non 1/1) of John McDonald.

I have a few player collections, some more active than others. I'm collecting Jack Wilson and Andrew McCutchen pretty actively, and have collections of Warren Morris, Lou Collier, Bobby Bradley, Brad Corley and Andy Van Slyke that I add to from time to time.

Jonny Gomes (384/393 98%, 454/584 78% with 1/1s), Joey Gomes (65/77 84%, 67/97 69% with 1/1s) and Matt Diaz (93/100 93%, 97/139 70% with 1/1s).

Not really "crazy", as Joey Gomes and Diaz have so few cards. The craziest part would be the second collection of Jonny Gomes that I have---248/341 (73%, plus 13 incoming cards). The discrepancy of 52 cards (393 main collection, 341 secondary) is because the second collection is in a binder, and thus doesn't include oversized or extremely thick cards.

I would say, "Cetifiable!"...I'll bet you really get bummed when you bid against yourself for that Gomes card you need for both collections!

Yeah, out-sniping myself is a real pain; makes a rare $3 card hit $30 more often than not.

Geez, good thing there aren't two separate Gomes completists out there; it's a lot more affordable with one person bidding for two collections than it would be with two!

I collect well over 250 players through three sports. Some of them more hardcore than others. But it is great to bust any wax because I usually end up saving about 75% of what I pull even after I make a base set. Waste not want not.

Richard Hidalgo, Javier Vazquez, Bob Gibson, Hunter Pence.

And it's really tough to improve the Hidalgo & Vazquez collections due to the fact their is rarely any of there stuff out there and it is tough to collect Pence & Gibson because their nicer stuff goes for more than I can afford (usually).

I will be taking these collections and giving them to my son when I get older though, so I will collect them as hard core and crazily as I can afford until then :D

I collect Greg Reynolds and Mark Reynolds. The last name is just a coincidence. I'm just about the only one buying Greg Reynolds on eBay right now and get good prices on them. I do have some competition on Mark Reynolds though.

I collect Puckett but not as astutely as Ripken.
Same with Al.

I don't collect anyone as religiously as Ripken.
But I dabble in Roberts, Jones, Arrieta, Matusz, Givens, and other O's Prospects.
