So what does everyone do with base....should I just put them in boxes by year and product? right now I barely have any #'d cards. I have no jerseys/game used or autos so im trying to figure out what to do with them.

This x 100. As much as I love being able to leaf thru my cards in a binder I had to go to top loaders for organizational purposes. About the fifth time I dinged a corner reshuffling the cards in a binder I decided to switch.

It depends... do you want to be able to look at them or are you just looking to store them away for long-term keeping? I have old commons stored by team and then by year and then by brand... for commons like the Indians (who I PC), then I put them in binders because I like to pull them out and look at them, etc. Just depends what you want to do with them.
Sounds like you're just getting started in the hobby. I'd suggest maybe getting some binders and 9-card pages to go in them... then organize your card by team if you'd like? Not sure what you like best but using binders is what I did when I first started out in the hobby.
When you do get nicer cards or autos or memos or serial numbered cards, you can consider top loaders, one touch holders, etc.

My dad has an old Post Office safe that is being stored in my moms garage. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of getting it here from Ohio. She (mom) knows a guy on her mail route that will replace the locks. It looks similar to this, but not exact same. I plan to store all of my cards in it and it has some small drawers for PSA (if I ever get any) or bigger cards. I haven't tried it, but looks to be about the right size for some 1 screw holders and such. Lots of room inside and my collection will be safe......get it?

Those are it. Not cheap, but I lived flipping thru the pages to see my cards for the few days I had them in there. And the added protection of the toploaders and sleeves was a bonus. I still use them to store my Ryno RC collection.

Those top load binders are enticing but do they hold top loads of increased size beyond 35 pt.? I have cards that are much thicker. Plus, I can see those pages ripping after too much handling. Still not a bad looking product though. I found it funny the guy said in the video that the weight was an issue. I wonder what he'd think if he picked up one of my three row boxes full of GU?
As far as keeping stuff in a binder, I'd have a binder for each year and I'd go by the Beckett checklist I have and be sure to account for the unlisted cards I have or know of that exist. So yes I may be doing shifting or sorting but at that point, it wouldn't be much. But it would still be something I'd do once I get to the point of having the year pretty much finished. Only problem is some cards would be in regular 9 pocket pages while others would have to be in top loads and therefore, in a different binder. Which kills the idea for me.

The thickest I had placed in there was a 75 pt. You really can't get much thicker than that in these pages.

Those top loader pages are cool. I can see putting my game used ones in them. But i dont think they could handle my 97 pinncale XPress Metal Works cards. Super thick, and super heavy. If I have to keep some stuff in a seperate box, I may as well keep the thicker game used there too.

And everything else IMO. Like practically every patch card I own is thicker than 75 pt. for Bagwell. And then you've got stuff you'd be afraid to just put in a toploader. Like 93 finest refractor, crusades, quantum leap, 1/1's, laundry tags, etc. That's the kind of stuff I'd keep on one touches and team bags. So being that they are too big for the pages, why spread your collection out over several different formats for storage?

Eh, I got my 93 finest refractor in my binder. I see no point in separating it from the rest of its brethren.

i use binders, i have a few of those 20 card wall displays. have a big jewlery display case with my better cards. a few boxes fillled with top loaders' also keep a few in my car, some in the closet.i have 16 tins from timeless treasures, some upper deck tins hall of fame baseball and ultimate signature all filled with toploaders. i got them all over the place.
