Mark Grace = 0 new issues
Don Zimmer = 1 new issue

Topps monopoly sucks. Same players in every issue.

I see Grace has only been in 3 sets since 2008 (all UD), and in 4 sets in 2007 but always in Legendary Cuts.

I'm amazed he has 3,000 different cards - although I'm amazed about any player with close to that huge amount.

But I'd ask at what point should retired guys no longer be expected to have new cards? Grace, for instance, last played in 2003.

I think there's a market for at least 1-2 sets a year that cater towards fan favorites and all-star caliber players from the past. There seems to be a void in the market for retired stars with the disappearance of sets like Fan Favorites, Fleer Greats, etc. Sure, he doesn't deserve to be in most sets, but it would be nice to see MLB licensed sets with more MLB'ers - past and present - than MiLB'ers (prospects) that will in many cases never play in the majors.

There's a 2012 Topps Archives coming out.

I really can't see an archives or FF-type set coming out every year, every 2-3 years seems to make the most sense from here on out. For what its worth, this seems to be the direction that Topps is taking - I'm guessing Topps has done some market research on this.

As said here, it sucks when only the same players are in every set all the time, especially when there are tons of current active players who are lucky to get any card!

I got ALL of the 2011 cards of my players... OH WAIT THERE WERE NONE... FOR ANY OF THEM.

Not Dice-K, not Maples, not Randy Johnson... NONE!

Don't be so sure...

I'm 2/7 for Troy Glaus releases from 2011. Two were easy, the Gypsy Queen Home Heroes base and Mini. The other five were the 4 HRH plates and the Bowman USA Retro patch /25 that I haven't seen.

I'd love to see a set of past all-stars come out once a year. Surely they could sacrifice one of the many prospects sets to make room. You're right though, sales probably wouldn't justify it, otherwise it would be happening.

I definitely agree with you. I don't think Archives could be an annual release, but I'd love for the forgotten semi-stars of the 90's and early 00's to get more cards. I want more Jack McDowell releases!

Burks hasn't had a new card issued since 2009 (Upper Deck 1989 20th Anniversary Buyback.)

Up to 215 / 452. 47.5% of Josh Hamilton

Hamilton has 154 1/1s in 2011 releases!! That is ridiculous.

So really 215 / 298. 72.1%

Pretty good year for me.
Pomeranz - started in 2009
Cards released in 2011 added - 35 of 62
Total cards added to Pomeranz collection in 2011 - 85 total cards

Mahtook - started in 2011
So all cards minus Elite were added in 2011.
25 cards from 2011 releases were added.

Ben McDonald - started in 2011
Cheap, fun collection of a former Tiger I used to assist weekly in the bank.
Picked up 359 different McDonalds in 2011.

McDonald is getting tough, so I am probably gonna start a couple new PC's like that in 2012.
