I refuse to recognize or pay the ridiculous premium associated with them.

Luckily the premium I've found for Omar's has been only a few bucks more than what I think the card would've normally been. A memorabilia card /50 that I can see going for $8 - $10 might be more like $12. I agree, if it were more like $20 then it's not remotely worth it!

I am up to 47. I don't search the cards out but I don't mind spending an extra $1 or $2 if there are two copies available and 1 is a First, Last or Jersey number.

Not something I go out of my way for, but if I don't have the card and see one it definitely gets priority. I have 39 different Grace's #17/X. My favorite example of this is the Playoff Absolute Glass Plaques. Grace had 4 variations, and I have 3 of the 4 numbered 17/X. Would kill to find the 4th!

In the McGwire world that number seems to almost double the price so I have never intentionally bought one.

That said, I somehow bought 6 of them.

Two - kind of.

My only Sosa autograph is a 2004 Prime Cuts II Century Silver autograph 21/21. I also have a 2004 Donruss Elite Status XX/21.

No premium was paid for either. The autograph I got at a great price of $20 (from a fantastic collector - RGBII), and the Status was a gift.

I've got a handful of Griffey cards that are #'d to his various jersey numbers: 3, 24 and 30. I'm at work but will check when I get home.

I call bullcrap! ;)
Being a player collector, how can you be "happy" not having any jersey # cards??

I have a few:
(Sorry for the crappy scans. Haven't make it past page 6 of my bucket of rescanning.)

Hehe, just not my cup of tea. If I pulled one from a pack or someone gave me one I'd be fine with it, but just not something I chase for my collection. Not saying that I don't like them, just have other priorities to go after first.

I'm not into the "memorabilia", only the cards (so far), but that is just freakin' awesome! Why isn't that the first line of your signature ("$50 Reward for ....", e.g.)? MG

wow, well thanks for all the compliments guys! I actually was searching for a card this weekend, and went through all the cards I've picked up for the last 6 or 8 months. I took the opportunity to update the 24 Museum, and it reminded me of this thread...

Showoff. I have some too. Less than 10. It is an amazing list that you have. How the hell did you manage that?

The same way I did, I'm sure.... Outbidding the competition!

Sure, outbidding the competition on ebay, but it took a lot of hunting and trading to get all these. I've been a real slacker for a while now, but I used to hunt with fervor. Most fellow Rickey collectors are very cool about it, and trade me their 24s to be in the Museum. :) A good home and stuff like that. I have paid a good premium on some, especially when trading, but sometimes I get 'em for a couple bucks. It sucks though when a card ends for $4 one day, and the next day the same card #24/xx goes for $40, but that's kinda just the way ebay is no matter what the serial # is.

How it all started was with this top card:
CC52a.jpg

It is fiftytwolicious. The prime 52 patch, the picture of the 52 jersey on the back, and #52/52 to boot. Then I picked up it's modest little brother, and my fascination with jersey cards began... of course, #52 is really tough because the card has to be #/52 or more. Most cards seem to be numbered out of 50 or less, at least when you're shopping for Sabathia's. Murphy's law or something. But then there really is something to this: The more there are the harder it is to get a certain #. I have a 1 in 24 chance when looking at a card #/24, but only 1 in 100 when it's a card #/100. So I don't really have that many Sabathia Jersey # cards, although if he wore #24 I would have even more of him than I do of Rickey. Anyway...

Indeed! They make me sooooo happy!

The odds against getting #32 on these were so great that I had to take this opportunity to show them off.

This one too /\

Although why it's not #/24 is something to ponder upon... there are two more cards in the set, a Dodgers card #/25 (his jersey # while playing for the Dodgers), and a Mariners card #/35 (his jersey # while playing for the Mariners), and on both of those cards the die cut numbers on the front match the #/ on the back. Hmmmm....

Ah yes, I have many sets like that. Just oooooone more and I could really complete the set. The worst is probably this Jason Jennings set that I have, a Leaf Certified Mirror Jersey set. The red is #001/250, the blue is #001/100, the gold is #01/25, the emerald is a problem, it's #3/5, and the black is of course #1. I have been looking for #1/5 for like, you know, 5 or 6 years. I think it's from the 2004 set, maybe even the 2003. It's hard to put things like this in your sig because it would be a miracle if anybody had any of the 4 left in the world, yet alone #1. or #17 in gracecollectors case.

So to some it up, I love jersey # cards that I can write a post about them that is almost as long as one of predatorkj's posts. ;)

ooooooohhhhhh that's a beauty Russ! A couple things I love about it, I love when the card is #/d to the jersey # and you have the jersey # (8/8 or 24/24)... and I also like it when my jersey #'d cards are #'d on the front. So in conclusion, absolutely divine pick up!!!
