Player Collectors: Polo Ground from 2005 Throwback Threads

back in 2010 several collectors wrote: I like this set, and I'm not sure why
I agree

there were 3 sets in 2005 that seemed similar in concept to me -
* Donruss Throwback Threads Polo Grounds
* Leaf Sportscasters
* Donruss Studio Portraits
[add in the following to make it 4 similar sets ]
* 2004 Leaf Exhibits

liked them all, [and not sure why]
I've always been drawn to die-cut cards, so I decided if I work on one of these sets, I choose: 2005 Donruss Throwback Threads polo grounds
I've been working on getting 1 card of every player in the set, but trying to do it cheap and/ or by trade.
but not obsessive, content to pick up 1 card a year

More recently, I thought I'll go for 2 more projects in this set
* try to make the full set run of serial numbers of Shawn Green [in other words, don't need all 8 variations /45, one will do]
* try to have 1 card of every variation in the set

so having said all that, just joined FCB 1 year ago, and I'm trading cards from my stash of serial numbered cards numbered to 100 or less, for polo grounds cards that I need
