I read this as "Everyone likes" and of all the names mentioned only Jeter and Mo count IMO as universally liked players

No one likes Rapelisberger, even Steeler fans and everyone knows Michael Jordon is a huge ****** IRL. Neither have ever been considered who everyone likes. Yadi, Pujols, Posey and Votto are not universally liked or disliked.

I like Jeter and Mo. And Ortiz.

Good point. I focused on the "you can't stand" part of the question.

Brian Wilson, act like a weirdo and now nobody wants you. I find it funny that he still has cards being made and other memorabilia.

Bryce Harper - still comes off as sort of a ****** at times but as long as he puts up numbers and plays like Pete Rose, he can get away with doing what he wants.

His perfectly coiffed hair during the home run derby was ****** confirmation.

I really don't understand what Bryce Harper does that would make people angry. I didnt follow him in the minors, but I heard all this stuff about him being cocky and arrogant. I dont see it.

Not sure there's anyone I don't like that everyone likes, but I have one for the opposite of that.......everyone hates Alex Rodriguez and for whatever reason, even though he seems like a huge dbag, I still cheer for him as a non-Yankee fan.

Couple people said Roethlisberger, I don't think everyone likes him to begin with. I'd have to definitely say Jeter though. Not sure if this kind of thread has already been started and I missed it but what about the other way around, players that everyone hates but you like? For me, I'd have to say A-Rod. He certainly put himself in a lousy position with PED use. But his swing is one of the best I've ever seen in the game.

Call me irrational but I love watching A-Rod both succeed and fail - don't think he was really ever the villain until he got to New York - yeah he made his bed when he signed with the Texas Rangers but the dirty laundry didn't come out until his 30's.

I also can't believe how Jose Canseco was so right about A-Rod in one of his books.

What did he do wrong when he signed with Texas?

Mariano Rivera. Its not that i "cant stand" him, i just dont get the hoopla for relief pitchers, especially ones that only throw one inning.
Yankees dont win all those World Series without Rivera. And he pitched more than 1 inning quite a bit.

Signed for $252 million and changed his image from a great young player to your typical greedy SOB, typical modern day athlete in the eyes of the average MLB fan.

Dunno if everyone liked him, but my least favorite player ever is Paul O'Neill. First inning, called strike one... and he's rolling his eyes and throwing a tantrum. I don't care how hard he played or how intense he was, to me that's an embarrassment. If my kid acted like that I'd yank him out of the game.

Chipper Jones.

As for why, just ask his Baby'sMamas and then the ex-wife he just dumped for a younger Model. And his clueless Tweets don't help.

I have no problem with Players having tons of chicks, Pat Burrell-Derek Jeter style, but playing around while Married with kids? Or preaching Morals? And then playing yourself off as "Mr. America"? That's what does it for me, really chafes me and Chipper is the Leader Hypocrite in baseball.

Texiera was a jerk IP, so was Cano, unless you were an attractive 20ish young lady. But MO and O'Neill were great, especially with the kids, which counts much more to me...
