I don't think it will change anything, but I think it's great that the players are raising a stink over the rule change about technical fouls. The rule is a good idea to reduce the complaining to refs, but has gotten out of hand in the preseason. The NBA already has the worst officials in any league, and are in the spotlight far more than they should be. I don't understand the desire to further take the game out of players hands and put more emphasis on officiating, especially after how poorly the finals were officiated last year (for both teams).

I have one friend who loved the NBA, and we watched every Celtics game together last season. He's decided he's over the NBA because of the officiating and this new rule. He doesn't plan to follow the NBA this year, so the players are correct in saying it will hurt the product.

I agree. I understand they want to get a handle on things but this is getting out of hand. KG got kicked out of the game the other day and its just the preseason ::facepalm:: . Even though Kg is very emotional and hyped up at times he hardly ever gets kick out of games. Also they makes controling the outcome of a game much eaiser from the refs stand point. Dint they learn anything from the Tim Donaghy situation :?: Im not saying refs are calling games or its even happening now but with these Tech rules in place it would make a ref job much easier and less suspisious to blow a game. I thought last year was fine and I dont see the need to get even more aggresive with Techs.

The refs are the worse part of the NBA, and giving them more power makes no sense to me

I would rather the ref's concentrate on controlling the coaches (which they are supposed to be doing as well). Last night Alvin Gentry got a technical during the Blazer game. In previous years, he would work on a ref all game long, which would have an effect on the calls by the end of the game. This is the only part i'm excited about.

wow
I just saw Rudy Gay get a ridiculous tech after raising his hands and making an "oops" face, not even directed towards any ref, after a foul on Joe Johnson that could've gone either way.

As much as I hate NBA Ref's, I LOVE this rule.

It has been nice to watch a game without somebody complaining after each and every call.
