I've been thinking the same thing as the OP. Couldn't the admin fix this?

Yes they could with adding some HTML but why should they change it when they are happy with the sites design.

I think this thread is dedicated to why they should change it. What benefit is there to keeping it as is, from a design perspective?

The benefit of having a new tab open is so that one doesn't navigate away from FCB. Click a link, new page opens and FCB is still there waiting for your return.

True, it's a pretty pety thing really, I think it comes down to just being a convience and ease of use thing for users.

opening new tab after new tab after new tab is bad coding

its something that just shouldn't be done, you won't see it here.
I don't mean to argue, but since you chimed in, why is it bad coding? I'm on quite a few forums and they all create new tabs. I'm just wondering why you feel it's bad.

Pop up windows and clutter is bad.

I assumed you were refering to internal links only, I will see about fixing the external.

Oh, definitely that's what we meant. I hate pop-ups as much as the next guy. Clutter even moreso. I just want to keep a FCB tab open all the time, that's all :grouphug:

most of them have been added

using url tags does not work at this time. but strait up links do work.

I implemented the code prior to seeing gilmos message, so if requested it may be backed out.

I remember this bugging me when I joined, but I've gotten so used to opening a new tab it's how I surf the internet now. When I'm looking through the news, I open anything I want to read in a new tab and keep looking at the headlines. It also solves the problem of having to wait for any pages to load, by the time you're ready to read them they are good to go. When I'm reading through a thread and somebody posts a link to a story or whatever, I automatically open it in a new tab.

So Thanks Gilmo, for teaching me to surf the internet better.

I always thought it was done the way it is done so that people would have to go back to FCB and reload all the ads.... but I admit I'm a cynic like that.
