My royals since going 18-11 have the worst record in baseball. I am actually hoping they continue to tank. I'm already sick about it. Might as well get something out of it.

There is talk of the Royals moving Greinke. "We" were winning last night by 4 runs and lost thanks to the worst bullpen in the league.

How can you call yourself a fan of a team when you want them to tank even though they still have a chance to win it all? And for what? Some zitfaced 16 year old overhyped kid who have not even hit puberity yet? What is the matter with you prospectors? There is more to baseball than 16 year old kids that MIGHT turn out! Root for your team to pull off a trade and win.

No. Besides, don't the Mets usually stick pretty close to slot? The probably wouldn't draft him, then spend the money in the latin prospect market. ;)

Also, if the Nats didn't sign Strasburg, that would give them the 2nd pick. Ofcourse if they don't sign him they might as well move the team or contract it, because the events that would likely follow would be devastating.

Hypothetical scenario — it's September, and your team is clearly out of contention (i.e 20-30 games out). Do you "unintentionally" lose as many games as possible to get a shot at Bryce Harper next June?

Jim Callis (2:32 PM)

No. I don't see how a team could tank without it being obvious. It would be hard to regain your fans' faith after they spent all that money on tickets. Also, what if you do that and then Harper doesn't live up to expectations next spring?

There are so many ignorant pieces to your post, I won't even indulge.

I find it so amazing how fans like you think your favorite players just fell off trees, never being a young prospect at any point of their career.

Following young players, both minor leagues and amateur, is about appreciating the game and the great talents that eventually grow to be major leaguers. People like you seem to have no sense of it all.

All I know is that it doesn't look like we will have a third straight year of choking to the Phillies in September.

The Mets = Good for what ails the Phillies

The Phillies played the Mets on June 9, 10, and 11, going 2-1 against them. The Phillies then lose 2 of 3 to the Red Sox, get swept in 3 game series by both the Blue Jays and the Orioles, and then go 3-3 against the Rays and Blue Jays, before finishing up their 9 game road trip by being swept by the Braves. So after beating the Mets, they go 4-14 in their next 18 games.

And then the Mets show up in Philadelphia...

They sweep the Mets in 3 games, beginning a stretch of 14 wins in 15 games before finally losing last night.

Jimmy Rollins stats between the 2 Mets' series: .136 (8-59), with 2 doubles, 2 HRs and 5 RBIs, OPS .487

His stats since the Mets came to Philly: .358 (24-67), with 8 doubles, a triple, 2 HRs and 10 RBIs, OPS 1.040
