holy crap
just when I had a grip on all his stuff, Prime cuts releases a few more!
Now there's Leaf Limited, Playoffs, and Prime cut auto's out there.

So we have,
Threads Diamondkings & dk autos with jerseys
Threads Letters
Elite Extra & elite with jersey auto
Topps Aflac
Prime Cuts
Playoff Contenders
&
Leaf Limited

I guess there's pro's and con's - I'm sure player collectors are way digging it, maybe?
but man, that's a lot of Porcello. I know the wait for his auto's has been on ever since the eee mystery redemption didn't turn out like some expected. But I didn't expect all this...

Think they'll all do pretty well in the market? Are there any you dislike?

I think AFLAC will be the most desired auto, followed by EEE and Threads... those will be his best RC autos imo

Don't forget his BDP cards unless you're only talking about autos.

I didn't forget the bdp cards, but may as well include them, as they are just as viable of an option to pick up as the autos.

I also figure the Aflac to be the best, but all these donruss sticker ones should be decent too.
I'm going to have to get some just to see them in person. Kinda surprised the Limited wasn't made like a cut auto, or the Prime CUTS for that matter. I see the prime cuts is numbered to /249, any word on the other's print runs?

Keep in mind all of his stuff is still fairly limited. I mean his base auto from EEE is 1299 but he only has like 200 autos in the variations. His threads Diamond kings is /300 and the prime cuts is /249 so its not like he has the amount of auto's price, burgess, heyward, and J.P. had last year with sterling and EEE and in some cases draft. Also Imagine if he signed with topps he would have had over 2k in auto's in draft alone not to mention Sterling auto's (about 1500 or so)

Also Remember how many auto's Joba had and they all sold well last year.

And like you i am gonna pick a few of these up just to hold onto

I just don't recall a player given so many autos from one company in one year.
they could be all fine investments, especially taking the actual number of auto's, as Weather stated. but we don't know how many leaf limited and playoff contenders there are.

Anyone have a checklist?

My only complaint is that I was just about comfortable with what I had for Porcello, with maybe sticking another 100 into him, but now, I think I have to rethink that.
and on second thought, I'm pretty sure donruss now has more autographs than bowman ever produced in one year.

Its good for low end prospectors like myself.

speaking of low end - what's a Porcello low end card anyway?

chromes, refractors, xfractors - maybe the threads letter autos and elite 1299's,
non auto diamond king framed /100, /50, /25, non auto elite parallels, elite jerseys, dk jerseys..

I don't think the cuts or limited or contenders are really going to be Low end cards..

crap, are there base versions in this prime cuts stuff too?

From what I've seen the Threads letter autos sell pretty well. More so than the EEE base autos. He's only going to be in Donruss from here out this year for autos. It's actually, like was stated earlier, much less than if he did have a chrome auto and a likely Sterling too. You'd have to figured close to 6,000 between the two with all the parallels factored in if he were in just bowman sets. Right now he might get to 3,000ish with all the Donruss versions so far.

I dunno, I'm still deciding if I like it or not.
they are doing ok on ebay though.
Now I see there's prime cuts regular/249 and prime cuts jersey /249.

I'm not going to do the math, but I think it's getting pretty darn repetitive.

And he couldn't sign bowman draft...ugh.

i bet he'll be in bowman w/chrome.

He's Donruss exclusive. The AFLACs were pre-Donruss contract.
oh i see. i thought he was donruss exclusive but was curious why he had aflacs...

I wasn't saying he had too many cards as in total numbers, but as in total different cards.
I understand the numbers, just didn't know I was going to have so many choices of 'brands' or 'issues'.

I'm up for it I suppose, as the new ones look pretty cool. but instead of stocking up, and selling off when I think the time is right - I may have to hold on to 7 or 8 autograph, as opposed to 2 or 3 for keepsakes.

still, checklist anyone?

Look at it like this his cards would be much higher if he was in chrome and as far as an investment goes look at how well last years EEE and since he doesn't have a "MLB Licensed" card most of the prospectors on this board will stay away. which translates to lower prices for the rest of us!

True stuff. I'll admit I didn't see the 07 EEE success coming. Back on the old BMB I definitely thought the no license thing was going to hurt them. It didn't really. Even when they did have a license they weren't equaling chromes. So they definitely were a success based on at least equaling their past years licensed cards (05 or whatever).

I was never anti Donruss (I like them), just skeptical at the time about how it would be received.

I felt the same with 07 eee. seeing at least one of my guys in a college uniform with a metal bat, I didn't think it'd be huge. Then again, I loved donruss when they were around, and looked forward to the day they might return. 07's success had me looking forward to them again this year, but I wasn't thrilled with 08s checklist. Couple that with the same checklist over and over again in subsequent products, and i'm getting tired.
Show some restraint dlp!
For the record, I like the products, but I guess you get what you ask for. You want Donruss back in the game? gotta take the saturation with it.
EEE could have just had base cards, with the autographs being no more than a toc/500 - only parallel autographed cards. Then maybe the different products would have more appeal, all being low #d.

If you take a bowman yearly run of
1250 or so base chrome autos
500 refractors
250 xfractors
150 blue refractors
50 gold refractors
25 orange refractors
5 red refractors
superfractor
1000 or so base sterling autos
199 refractor
25 black refractor
1 red -
that still gets you like 3450 cards for that guy - with basically 2 different cards
At least with Porcello, the numbers are (maybe) still lower, but there's different actual cards.
As for the guys that have dlp and topps autos this year, ouch.

heck, im just going to stick with aflacs.

*yes, I did bump this thread knowing there's a related thread on page one, but there's bickering, and it's getting OT. besides, I don't care how many Evan Frederickson and Gordan Beckham cards there are :-)
