Posada to DL, just heard on WFAN in NY

This is terrible news for the Yanks. Posada is the most important player on the Yankees. Just as the Yanks are ready to welcome A-Rod back they lose Jorge.

No they are not calling up Jesus Montero.

I don't see this hurting the Yankees at all really. Molina is their best defensive catcher, it should improve the Yanks staff drastically with him being behind the plate every game.

Gardner and Melky in the lineup everyday now. They loose some pop and some clutch hitting, but I value the way Molina calls a game more.

Posada means everything to the yankees. Last year was the first season he missed significant time and it's the first year the yanks don't make the playoffs. He is a top 5 hitting catcher in the league and he is not replaceable. He is the only Yankee, other than Mariano that is not replaceable.

I was saying to my friend last night, that it will only be a matter of time before every Yankee pitcher requests Molina to catch their games.

His value is high, it was one of the most talked about things on TV the other night when the Yankees were playing, saying how much Posada adds to the team with key hits and leadership role. Not more valuable then ARod, but a true team player.

No one on the yankees team, and only a few in MLB can call a better game than Posada. This is where a catcher really makes his money. Atop of that, he is a quality catcher and a decent bat. Without his presence and knowledge behing the plate, they are a lesser team period.

There is more to the game than stats.

It's not like Posada is terrible behind the plate. Also, have you watched Molina hit this year? Most of the time he looks pathetic out there.

Posada is getting older, but Molina will obviously have to take over the catching duties. They also do not have much in the minors who are MLB ready, so Molina will stay. He is a garbage hitter, but what are ya going to do?

Hard to argue with the numbers Melky is putting up right now.

Like it or not, Posada is a significant loss to the team. He also has one of the hottest bats on the team right now.
