Jason Kendall was running out a ground ball, and hit the side of the bag, resulting in a compound dislocation (not a fracture). I happened on July 4th and ended his season in 1999.

I don't care who you are that error was funny, maybe not if you are a Cardinals fan but that play is almost as funny as when the ball hit Luis Castillo on the head.

Great photo, thanks. I happen to own the "Get Well" card the Cubs sent as a team to Kendall. They came into town to play the Pirates on the 5th, the day after the injury. The card was left in the hospital and an employee nabbed it before it hit the trash. In the scan below, I blew up Grace's signature and strange note.
