Is anyone else have trouble with high value items not being scanned?

Sold a card for $850 on June 28 to a seller in the US. Shipped it priority mai with insurance and signature confirmation. Was a little concerned so I went on USPS site and asked to be notified by email with proof of delivery. Seller left me positive feedback on July 14. A few days later I get an email from USPS saying, we regret to inform you that we were unable to
locate any delivery information in our records regarding your item number. The on line tracking says,
Out for Delivery, 2011-07-01, 08:27:00, FALLS CHURCH, VA, 22041
Delivery status not updated, 2011-07-01, 22:27:00

On July 25 I sold a card to a Canadian buyer for $180. Sent it Registered mail at the request of buyer. On August 12 buyer left positive feedback. Just checked on line tracking and the last entry says, Customs clearance processing complete, Aug-10-11, 12:59 PM.

On Aug. 9 I sold a couple of cards off Ebay to a collector in Austalia for $550. Sent them Express Mail International. I few days later buyer emails me saying he recieved cards and everything is good. Just check tracking and the last item says, Customs clearance processing complete, August 14, 2011, 8:26 am, AUSTRALIA.

On Aug 7 I sold a card on Ebay to a buyer in Japan for $168. Sent it Express Mail International. Buyer has not left feedback yet. Last entry on USPS site says, ATTEMPTED DELIVERY ABROAD, Aug-13-11, 14:44 PM, JAPAN. Requested proof the delivery from PO and recieved this response,
In response to your request dated 08/18/2011, we regret to inform you that we were unable to
locate any delivery information in our records regarding your item number XXXXXXXX.

So it looks like none of these items was properly scanned. The only one I am still worried about is the last one. Any of these buyers could claim that they did not recieve item and I would have problems. These are my 4 biggest sales in the last 60 days.

I have never seen it this bad before. Is it this way with everyone.

Re: Postal tracking Tracking

In mid July I had a $300 sale that is still showing up as Attempted / Notice Left.

The seller has left feedback and thanked me for the pruchase, so I know all is well, but come on UPS update the records

Re: Postal tracking Tracking

International is a crap shoot. I've sold quite a few things overseas. Anything high dollar, I've used tracking and fairly often, the USPS tracking never actually gets completed. Must be some issues with the way the postal service handles the mail. As far as in the states, I run into very few issues. If you print your postage in house and your ink is low on your printer, it may be difficult for USPS to get an accurate scan. If they have to enter in the info manually, it might cause some unexpected errors as well, just a thought, since a similar situation happened to me, but my local P.O. pointed out early enough for me to make the necessary corrections.

Good thing on registered is that if you open an inquiry about the package they are able to find all the information needed. Happened to me on a $210 package going to Canada. Tracking never updated and the buyer said he hadn't received. Opened an inquiry and found out he had already received the package while I was running around trying to figure out where it was.

This is one reason why I will not sell anything hi-end outside the U.S. Too many things can go against you, including the postal service.

Because you like to leave money on the table?
