Question of the day; what or how is the best way to organize your collection? i.e. by team? Year? Card company? Let me know how you organize your collection.

I organize by my standards. This is not really answering the question, but to each there own. This is a hobby not Walmart we all are different.

Not all Walmart stores are the same.

I understand that each collector has their own preference, but I'm just curious as to how my fellow collectors have theirs personally organized because I'm thinking about reorganizing mine and I might use an idea or two based off the comments posted

I actually just talked about this on my site:

My Collection: Section A1AA or 09 Upper Deck Legendary Cuts are the coolest thing ever | Cleveland Sweet Spotting

You can find the spreadsheet with the collection at the top.

I think that my collection is a little different than others here since it's primarily autographs. I would imagine that if you collected cards there are much better ways.

I just wanted my collection organized in a way that I don't have to constantly be handling the items and reshuffling stuff...but still really easy to find items.

by player, then by year, then by manufacturer. Almost all my cards are in binders except for graded and higher end game used.

Whatever works for you. Do what you like. It's like organizing your furniture-- whatever suits you best is best for you.

My collection has... 5 categories:
1) autographed rookie cards signed in person or TTM (certified by PSA/DNA)
2) autographed rookie cards signed in person or TTM (that I want to get certified by PSA/DNA if they ever have another $10 special)
3) autographed rookie cards signed in person or TTM (not certified by PSA/DNA)
4) rookie cards that I have not yet been able to get signed in person or TTM
5) stuff that I'll probably end up selling in order to buy autographed RCs signed in person or TTM (certified by PSA/DNA)

I know what I like.

I'll answer regarding my Albert Belle collection...

I organize by brand in alphabetical order (Bowman, Topps, Upperdeck, etc.), then each brand by year, then each year by like base to inserts, etc. The only deviation from this is oversized cards, graded cards, odd ball items, etc. are in a separate binder or box. Also, all 2011, 2012 and 2013 cards are separated in their own binders as well... this is because Albert Belle was missing from the hobby for 10 years, from 2001 to 2011.

That is exactly what my orginal Puckett collection that I started when I was a kid was like. Then when he retired I took a break until about 2006 which was a big mistake. All of my newer stuff is organized by year since then.
