Pretty interesting news from UD today

Lincecum Cain Dual (Sick) Patch Auto/15 (I think were selling at least 200 in season)

I got 320 in September for one of these, when the Giants were still alive.

Upper Deck Baseball has been a solid seller for decades. A few duds yes, but tons of winners.

I love the people that crap on UD for some of the poor releases they have, but ignore the utter crap the Topps puts out. Both companies have their "clunkers" but each one has 1-2 sports cars for their brand as well.

As a player collector only UD is a million times better than topps. If I was a set collector Topps wins by a large margin. If I was a box breaker Topps probably wins overall, but Topps has yet to release a high end product that I would like. UD has released a few that I really like.

Goodwin could of been an amazing product, when you sat down and opened it you pulled a bunch of autos
of no one in particular and your case hit was a redemption and we all know how that goes.

UD can't even copy topps products! Ginter was just crazy good this year and just squashed Goudey. Im a
heritage collector but that product has been weak for a while now, topps knows that they can just make
it and people will buy it. Too bad in my opinion, thats ok, I saved my money and bought Ginter.

UD can only put out nice products in the 100+ pack catagory, they can't do it on a product that costs 4 bucks
per. Why not? Maybe they don't need to?

can you name just one?

Although i love and buy both, I usually prefer topps, but they suck too...like no more fan favorites, no good players in heritage for last few years, and a lot of silver stickers especially on high end sterling....i would say UD has been doing a better job than topps lately.

I would say A&G competes more with goodwin and goudey, and A&G didn't bring much new to the table from previous years...
Topps Chrome is mostly a rookie set...does anyone collect those? I think most would go bowman chrome.
I like highend autos and don't like prospects. I personally would prefer the best that APOH has to offer or a TIGER goudey or a buyback griffey or jeter....I really cant think of any single card that topps has put out lately that I would like more than UD?

Just about every product UD put out in basketball, football, and hockey has been superior to their baseball release.

Just look at these two 2009 Icons cards. Look at how much difference they are. It's almost as if they don't care about baseball anymore.

I admit, I am not either a set collector or a base collector, so i don't look at topps or ud for that "stuff". I buy singles, and the best UD singles beat the best topps single for a few years now, and I am REALLY looking forward to sweet spot jumbo patches. Topps jumbo patches look like crap. UD had great classics in the 93 buyback jeter, the soon to be released 93sp jeter, the 89buyback griffey...topps had nothing compariively in that category. topps high end sterling is being released with silver bandaids...what a joke. They killed heritage with lousy hof auto selection for the last few years, and then they dropped fan favorites a few years ago, one of their best products. Until they come back with good quality on-card autos or nice jumbo patches, it's been all UD for me lately.

I also like the design of "a few" of the ballpark, including this one...i bid 550 and it sold for 560
I seriously cannot think of ONE topps card in the last few years that I really wanted. Maybe a A&G n54 boxtopper patch auto of matt holliday...

I agree, Topps has put out better products in 2009, but what are your thoughts on 2008. I fall into the same category of collecting as you, and looking at my 2008 Hanley collection I BY FAR prefer the UD products.
