I (almost) entirely agree. There must be some UD reps on this board or something.

Was UD worth buying when they could use logos? I can't remember the last great baseball product that
UD has put out.

Kevin

No, you're just a ******* who can't grasp the concept that people have different opinions than you

And I seriously don't know why you people even bother arguing with schmidtfan. He's been a tool and a worthless troll for more than a decade, since he was known as joestalin (real classy name, btw) on the CU boards

Here was another recent ud design i forgot that i liked...topps has had ZILCH that i can recall...although i will probably pick up a sterling patch when released.

You all are missing the point. Sure UD has put out a few nice cards, and yes that has included Tiger
and Jeter and MJ but Im talking about a product as a whole not the best 2 cards you can pull in an
entire product. UD's formula is tired, one autograph and two GU per box, the autograph checklist
will be 80 cards, 78 of which are common autos. You might see on nice Ripken auto but thats it. Even
in copying Ginter and putting out champion autos, they come up short...has anyone heard of the guys
that came out of Goodwin?

Upper Deck obviously feels that they can coast here, after all this thread is proof that people actually buy
junk and even defend it!

Bottom line, if UD disappeared in baseball tomorrow no one would care, topps can handle it all by themselves.

Can't you turn around and say the same thing about Topps products? The issues you're referring to isn't a Topps vs. UD thing, it's a failure by the whole industry.

As for your previous question, 2008 was OK but 2007 was really great with U.D.

I have a crazy theory not on the level of a Razor conspiracy but it seems like they knew they were gonna lose their license and that's why so many 2009 UD products were so lousy.

Bust any hockey, basketball or football UD product and you will be amazed at the quality, design, everything.

They're losing BKB as well though.

Also, while I am more than willing to admit that 2009 was crappy, 2008 Ultimate Collection
mops the floor with anything Topps has put out this year for player collectors.

Ultimate was also designed by the Football guys at UD, and was the first product they did.

I love this card, I should have got him to do inscriptions on the ones I had instead of sign this one again though. If I could go back I would.

I always thought the jumbo jersey autos would look better with an on card signature instead of the signature on the jersey. That card proves it.

Ultimate is nice, but why do I have to spend 80+ per pack to get nice?

Ill agree UD still owns football. SPA is always nice, for some reason it has never translated to baseball. I guess
the same thing with contenders for playoff.

As far as topps, sure they are not without bad products, but they have show year after year that they are
good for at least 2 solid products in the 4-7 dollar price range. As a collector I think its great to have the
option of going to the card shop with twenty bucks in my wallet and still have a shot at something nice
rather than having to pony up 200 to 300 bucks for a shot at something nice in UD.

How often do you just end with a handful of base cards for your $20 bucks.
If that is what you want great, but it's not for me.

But you have to admit, Mario.

Nothing REALLY all that exciting for a player collector there.
And nothing really for your money either, except basically some shiny base cards.

You could say the same about a Crusade if it wasn't for you though.

As a player collector I liked this years UDX. I collect everything and not just jerseys/autos. UDX was a very nice change of pace from the low end stuff that is usually produced. Most base/inserts now are the same card with a different color border and different numbering on the back. UDX actually produced some nice looking, low cost cards. If you're looking to win the lottery buying packs of UDX it isn't going to happen, but there is certainly value to a collector in this product.
