Prices on BGS 10 2008 Bowman Chrome Autos- UP UP UP

Not sure if you guys have noticed, but BGS 10 pristine autos from 2008 BCDP have really started to SOAR....

I had a Buster Posey BGS 10 and most here said I would get $150-$200 for it... Sold it for $350

Recent BGS 10 sales..

Motero - $375 (population 6)
Beckham - $410 (can't pull up the pop)
Posey - $350 (population 2)

Any thoughts on the sudden jump??

A Montero recently closed at $160....Then jumped to $375

in my honest opinion, bgs 10's are a farce. up until a few years back they were pretty much non-existent...now they are all over the place. no way i would pay a premium for them over a 9.5 w/ strong subs

Pretty much what I was thinking when I began reading this thread. I never graded much, but upon seeing a few bgs cards recently, they seem to be very lenient in grading cards now.

10's are still really tough to get. I think for the last couple years people thought BGS was handing them out a little more often ,but after a few submissions they've started realizing maybe not. 10's should be worth a lot more IMO. I think you are seeing more of them because cards are coming out the packs cleaner.

Agreed I have graded thousands of cards and the 10 always escaped me. I recently only got my first 10's after never getting any.

I think the beckhams came really clean from topps, I've had great success grading those and have graded 3 bgs 10s and also traded for one. The highest I sold one for was 210, with 175 being the average.

I think it might partially be BGS grading easier, but there is no doubt that the cards are coming out of the packs in better condition in 08. I would expect more 10s as time goes on with new cards. It only makes sense that progress in printing would create better conditioned cards. It's not even possible to get a 10 in 88 donruss. Which makes sense considering the technology at the time used to make them.

I tend to disagree with some of this.....Yes, it is easier than 88 donruss. But I thought this years sterling and chrome autos have been very difficult to grade as a whole. I opened 5 cases of 2008 BDP and graded (1) autograph...

We sure have seen this happen in the past, so it only makes sense now. BGS 10's haven't sold like this, even when they were harder (*they still are hard) to get.

What you're saying is true. It's very dependent on the set and what they choose to do with the borders (color, etc.). Overall though, in general across the board taking into consideration all sets made quality control has improved recently.

Something else to take into consideration is who signs the card. Some guys do a much better job of keeping them in good shape.

I don't think BGS is getting any easier. I've been grading cards for several years and the trend is the same... steady as she goes. People are generally getting better at picking out more probable gems for grading. Cards are definitely better produced than the old days. It is far easier to get a 10 on a Chrome than an old Donruss card. Yes, it is nearly impossible to get a 10 on 1988 Donruss. Last time I checked the pop report I didn't see any 10's from that set. I opened three boxes of that crap recently and only six star/rookie cards were worth grading. Was lucky to get a gem Glavine otherwise I was a fool for grading that shat to begin with. As far as 08 Chrome pricing goes I suppose it is just that time of year when rookies heat up. Recent better news on the economy cannot hurt.

Lets not forget people generally only show the good parts of their subs not the bad.

I don't think BGS is getting any easier. I've been grading cards for several years and the trend is the same... steady as she goes. People are generally getting better at picking out more probable gems for grading. Cards are definitely better produced than the old days. That's a nice Brett. It's nearly impossible to find centered 88 Donruss cards. There's a HUGE premium for gems. That's the only reason to open that crap. :lol:
