I thought that was classless, but can't expect any better from Fielder. He's a great ballplayer and I've actually seem him hustle for a fatty, but he does classless things such as: getting in brawls with his teammates, approaching the opposing teams clubhouse pretending like he wants to fight, excessive celbration. I just don't want baseball to turn into the celebration fest football has become.

I agree, nice post!

Yeah, the problem is it is Prince Fielder and the Brewers were a sub-.500 team.

If this is '08 and Longo does it.... :grouphug:

That being said, Fielder is an idiot and needs to chill out. He brought a Spring Training 1st inning drillings upon himself(here's your sign). I'd love to love Prince but he's too easy to hate. As a Cardinals fan, if he'll chill out and play the game w/o the blow ups; I'd like the kid. Also, don't tell me you are going Vegan, play 162 games and stay fat. But, fat or no fat.......he is a sick ball player.

That being said, team celebrations will cause nothing but trouble down the road. MLB isn't the NBA, and thank God for that.

All in All...it was harmless -(Minus) Fielder and a sub-.500 record.

A-Rod screaming in whoever's ear that was at second/short for the Jays= Bush.

Prince celebrating = fantastic. If the pitcher (that threw the ball there in the first place) wants to put him, or the next guy on base next time up, so be it. Part of the game. Pitchers can do it but batters can't?

The best was Bret Boone's bat flip. Priceless.

I am thrilled that fatass got drilled.

Hope it happens a couple more times this season. And with all of the Brewers showboating, I am sure it'll happen.

Every team has fist pumpers, homerun watchers, finger pointers, and home plate jump fests.. I don't get irritated at any of that.
I can see people getting mad at the shirt untucking the brewers did all of last year, but it's not anything to get all bent about. Bat flips, dugout stares, shaving cream pies, cartwheels - it's tough to draw a line on what's acceptable, and I haven't seen anything offensive to me yet. This is an emotional game, after all.

People got mad when a walkoff celebration by the cardinals spilled to the pitchers mound before the opposing team was off the field. Big deal!
What's next, fireworks? Oh snap, everyone already blows off fireworks. Those are noisy and distracting - and you can't miss em. Probably makes the losing team feel bad too.
Someone should write a letter.

The Brewers have a full roster of asshats. Must be taught in their minor league organization.

Remind me of that Cardinals instance and people getting upset. I don't remember.

I think Prince said it best:

"They gotta do what they gotta do," Fielder said. "But it's not going to take (the celebration) away. It's chronicled.

"I hit the home run and they gotta hit me. That's what they gotta do."

(Asked if he thought the celebration was worth taking one in the back)

"Hell yeah," Fielder said. "That's something I did with me and my teammates. It has nothing to do with them.

"You're damn right it was worth it."

His first statement really sums it up. Zito denies trying or that he/they speant any extra time thinking about it over the off-season, which might be the dumbest thing anyone has ever tried to pass off as the truth I've ever heard.

IMO, them hitting Prince just makes it look like they WERE stewing about it all winter, and while I agree that the initial celebration wasn't about San Fran, it almost makes it more entertaining that they can't let it go...Zito at least.

Aaaaaaaaand this is why every team the Brewers play this season should bean Fielder at least once this season every time they play them. What a ******.

Good for Zito.

I had actually forgot that it was the Giants who they were playing. I remember at the time thinking they will hit him in spring training.

It was a classless move by Fielder and the Brewers. I don't care if they were just trying to have fun or not. They showed up the Giants.

It's also showing a team up when they pull their jerseys out immediately after a game.

It's what should have happened. Now just move on and forget about it.

I would be embarrassed if Ryan Howard and the Phillies did that and would not have problem with the opposing team hitting him.

JMO of course.

Post thanked.

I would be completely embarrassed if it were the Cardinals out there acting like the Brewers, untucking their jerseys, having elaborate choreographed celebrations after a home run.

But the Cardinals would never do that.......because they have class.........and the Brewers don't obviously.

I just seen this and thought it was funny.

I could use it for the Brewers fans whining about Prince getting drilled.

Baby_displeased.gif

But it could also be used for the people complaining about the celebration too.

So we all win,

Sam-- Hater much?

You seem to have held on to this longer and more personally that the wholoe Giants team combined.

And no Brewers fans are whining about him getting drilled. We all knew it was probably going to happen. The only people that are whining are the people that don't think it was enough (*cough*yourposts*cough*).

You shouldn't let what happens in a game get you so riled up. Go have an Eskimo Pie or something.

I prefer Klondike bars thank you very much!

The Brewers have just found a way to get under my skin the last couple seasons. Whether it's Bill Hall being an idiot or Prince. I just am not liking them more and more as time goes by.

The fun part about being a fan is that we CAN do these things! We can get upset over something and complain about it, and we can love certain things that happen. That's the beauty of it.

It's like when I drive my car. I am the most evil, vile, screaming ***** on the planet and my wife can't even look at me. But ONLY in the car. I'm peaceful and calm outside of it. i get all my anger out on the road 9by screaming, not poor driving).

But i don't think, as a Packer fan, I come close to hating the Vikings or Bears as much as you see to hate Milwaukee.

Yeah a guy that never played baseball in his life and comes from a sport where showing up the opponent is revered. Notice that every commentator that is an ex baseball player (except harold reynolds) has said that there is no place in baseball for a celebration like this. It sets a bad precedent and I promise you that players wont tolerate this BS from anybody. Baseball players police the game themselves and if you want to play you're gonna pay. You can't turn baseball into a dance club circus tent. I would have been embarrassed if my team had pulled this garbage, it looked like something a bunch of 12 year old girls on a traveling softball team would have dreamed up in between their cheers in the dugout.
