Well, he had a good run. In the end, he had a career similar to his dad's. In fact, he's currently tied with him for HRs @ 319. Wonder if he'll ever try coming back just to hit that 1 more?

Crazy. I know Prince gets a lot of enjoyment out of life and family and many things other than baseball so I'm assuming that's a factor. Who knew that the final answer to "should the Brewers try hardest to keep Prince or Braun" was neither?

Ken Rosenthal says he's not retiring by choice or to be with family. The doctors just won't clear him to play indefinitely.

^ LOL.
I'll miss Prince. As a Rangers fan, I was hoping for greatness from him when he signed the contract.

As a Rangers fan I am glad he will be gone. His contract like a few others is an albatross, since his retirement is due to injury he will get all the money he is promised (good for him). Insurance will kick in and pay some or all of the Rangers end, which hopefully means a deal for either Desmond or Lucroy at seasons end, or even better a Yu deal (even though I am afraid this is far less likely)

Disappointed. I didn't really like the trade as I really liked Kinsler and thought was going to still be good for years. But I like Prince and if this somehow is the end, well, happy trails.

I remember back on BlowoutCards when all the Tigers fans were whining about trading Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler. The Tigers easily won that trade, even before Prince was forced to retire. Kinsler has pretty much been a perennial 4-7 WAR per season player for his entire career. Prince Fielder has put up a 5 WAR only once in his career...but everyone loves home runs and nobody cares about defense I suppose.

Maybe one of my favorite in-house sport show commercials ever. Remember, this commercial happened BEFORE Prince even left Milwaukee.
