I see a few possibilities here....

Red Sox for Casey Kelly, Michael Bowden, and Josh Reddick

Giants for 2 pitching prospects, take your pick, and Buster Posey or Kung Fu Panda.
I actually wouldn't mind these trades. Lock up Braun for the rest of his career now. He will then look upon as the savior and not as greedy.

You are high. Why would they trade one of the their 2 best young players for a player they might not be able to resign.

High I am not, because Prince is one of the top 5 players in the game. Look at his stats. Any trade will come with a long term deal. Wherever he is traded will be his home for the next 6-8 years.

Sorry Bro Fielder is not a top 5 player but that is neither here nor there.

Ummm the numbers don't lie. Try to dispute what he has put up since he first arrived to the big leagues. Only a handful of players have put up those numbers and most of them are deceased HOFers. So yes he is a top 5 player in this league. We all know who the top player is in PUJOLS, but after that, it is a wash.

I'm with him. You are high. Prince is great, but top 5? Trades for a team's 2-3 best prospects never actually go down unless the Mets are involved.

A better way of thinking about it: Would you trade away a lifetime of Kelly, Bowden & Reddick for half a season of Fielder when there's no reason for Fielder to sign a long term contract immediately? I guarantee you the Braves would undo the trade for Teixeria in a heartbeat.

Players all MLB teams would take over Fielder if money was no option:

Pujols
A-Roid
Hanley
Mauer

and I think one could make arguments for all of these being equal or better:

Howard
Miguel Cabrera
Teixeria

And that's not taking in to consideration position scarcity (there are a lot more power hitting 1st basemen than other positions), pitchers, and the fact that his size makes him a major injury liability.

Again, I LOVE Prince and his numbers ARE great but there are many other things to consider.

This is pretty much what I was going to type.

They need pitching. Bumgarner, Sosa, Pucetas are all very nice pitching prospects. Add a nice hitting prospect in roger kienkick and a power bat (catcher) in tommy joseph, that already is looking like a lot of options. They could use some players now like Lewis who is talented but needs an opportunity and a change of scenery.

They will not let go of posey or kung fu panda and i think a deal can be made without those two being thrown in. (This would be different if fielder had more years like a-gonz)

I could see a deal with the Padres. Adrian Gonzalez plus some pitching. Who knows what will happen, all I know is there going to get a ton for him. Id love to see him stay but I still think Braun and Gallardo are the franchise.

You ask the majority of the GMs and they would take Prince over Howard, Teixeira, and Cabrera right now in their careers. No doubt about it. My case for top 5 type player still goes. Once again compare his numbers against those players. Although I would take Mauer over Fielder just for the fact of the C position. His size is not a factor, get that out of your head. If you have ever seen him play he plays at 110% and has a high motor and can move. I am also saying he isn't worth that money and neither is the understated age steroid riddled Pujols, Cabrera, or Mauer. Just an opinion. My trades are what I would want in return, but then again, I am a Brewers fan and want the most :)

I agree with this and also heard Sanchez would be a trading chip as well. AT&T park is built for lefties. Prince would fit in just fine and also solve the problem at first base. Huff is okay, but he can't hold Princes jock...

i have heard that and after tonight's performance, that would make me bittersweet in trading sanchez :/

I'd rather have the bat. We have enough pitching and prospects to compensate for a potential Sanchez loss...

So you're telling me you'd take Prince over TWO of the following:

Pujols
H Ramirez
Rodriguez
Mauer
Lincecum
Halladay

You said players, not hitters

I like Fielder, and did not put Howard on that list because I think Fielder is better--off the top of my head, don't have comp stats in front of me atm.

I don't think his numbers are worth $25 mil. The guy has not finish a season over .300.

Not saying that because top 5 player is and can be interchangeable by opinion. Leaving Pujols out, I would take Hanley or Mauer over Prince just because of the position. It is easier to replace a 1B than a SS and C like their caliber

How can you say his size is not a factor?

Just because he hasn't been injured yet? His size makes him more injury prone! We have a freaking hundred years of history in this sport alone that says just this!

Big guys can succeed in baseball, there's no doubt. Prince definitely proves this. But their playing-lifespan is absolutely shorter than someone in peak physical condition. I'm sure he hits the gym just as much as the next guy, but come on. I hope he stays healthy and plays for 20 years, but I wouldn't spend $25mil per year to find out if he will.

Top 5 in the game???

Seriously?

Better than Manny?
Better than Pujols?
Better than Ichiro?
Better than Arod?
Better than Tex?
Better than Vlad?
