Hey guys,

What exactly can I do with this situation. I graded this card to make sure it was in fact not tampered with or anything. Well guess what I got the result yesterday and it is altered. I asked the seller for a refund and he never responded. So I have opened up a case against him. Am I wrong to ask for a refund on this card? Any steps I can take to make sure I do get my money back? Any help is appreciated!

Here are also my scans of the card.

Wrong to ask for your money back? No. Not at all.

But on regards on your refund - good luck, but I doubt it happens :|

Well he has responded to the case saying he doesn't give refunds and how does he know that I didn't alter it myself. ::facepalm:: I'll let the case decide if we can't fix it.

why wouldnt it happen? Ebay is all about the buyer, he will definately be getting his money back..which he should.

and by the way he can say what he wants, but no matter what if your not satisfied than you will be getting a refund no matter what he says.

That card definately has a wavy boarder especially when you see it from the back. Its the right side from the back or left from the front that is the issue IMO. You can see from the back how the cardboard looks rolled up and most likely will have an edge when felt by your finger. Both are big signs that the card was trimmed, most likely it was oversized to begin with if it measures properly.

U absolutely deserve to request your money back. U paid for grading & u have evidence that the card was trimmed. U're not getting back your grading fee so a refund for the card is the right thing to do. Upon your return of the card for refund the seller actually upgraded his card with a protected case.

Well, IF he didn't trim it and was unaware of it being trimmed, he absolutely has a point there. It's also known that grading companies are not 100% as well.

I got hit on a '55 Topps Aaron about 9 years ago that was returned by PSA as trimmed. Granted, I didn't have it graded for a few months after I received it. Ever since, I only buy graded online unless it's one of about 3 vintage dealers I absolutely trust.

Not true. The same exact thing happened to me and I lost my paypal claim.

I think you are going to have a tough time getting your $ back. If you filed a SNAD claim, you may have some problems because the seller never mentioned a possible grade or what not in the listing. He stated he didn't take refunds, so that makes it a bit harder. I hope you do get your $ back, but it may be tough going. Good luck

actually when it comes to paypal, there is no way the buyer can prove that he didn't
get what he paid for. The card came and there is tracking that is all paypal needs. I a
agree, if it isn't graded there is a reason. You just can't get deals on vintage anymore.
Did he have no refunds in the auction?

He says he doesn't take refunds but why wouldn't he not take a refund on a card that has an issue? I would not have a problem if someone graded a card and it came back as something wrong. I guess the right thing to do to some people just is not.

Re: Problem with a card I purchased.

I know a few people that collect older cards and sell older cards as well..

I've bought and sold from people as they have got rid of their collections. I then sell them online and I put in my description, that since I don't grade cards, I don't give what a card should be. I don't say if it a NM or Mint card.. that just opens yourself up to buyers wanting a refund since it didn't grade out what they thought it would.. It's not like card companies had lasers to cut the cards the same size every time back then..

You were gambling that the card would grade out decent and you lost. If you want a graded card, buy a graded card and avoid the headaches and hassels when there are problems..

Personally, I don't think you will get the claim, but then again, paypal has been screwing the sellers over lately..

Good luck,

Yes I bought it and hoped it would grade out decent. I wanted a nice one for my PC. 8-) The problem is now it won't grade at all because it altered. Would you ask for a refund? :)

I've wondered this myself in regards to other issues with cards (scratches not noted, creases, etc) and I know more than a few people on here post that they do not give refunds. I'd be curious to know the reasoning behind it.

Hey if remorseful buyers are getting their money back on month old Strasburg auctions, I'm sure by using bogus explanations not legit ones like this, can't the OP?
