That is a huge +1.

In regards to the article though: I respect what PP does, and they are never afraid to offer an out-of-the-box view, but sometimes they just don't quite seal the deal, such as here...warm-up pitches from Scheppers? Have to use game footage for video analysis.

Adam's super helpful if you ever need some help putting together something on a player.

With that said, do you know how hard it is to find any video at all on some of these players? Game footage is optimal, but with pitchers you can gain a good chunk from warm-up pitches. Ease of delivery, release point, and just overall athletic ability/flexibility. You're not going to get any useful information on breaking pitches, but even if there throwing at 85 instead of 90, you can normally see what kind of cut/tail/sink their fastball has.

I dunno about Sheppers. It seems to me that he is not using his whole body to drive that leg down. He starts off his motion in an odd way and he is clearly using all arm in that vid. Does anyone think the same thing that I do?

No, you obviously don't know what you are talking about....You are a Yankee fan.

Agreed about Adam.

And you are correct, video of minor leaguers and amateur players isn't growing on trees, but someone in this case was there and chose to use warm-up footage. The problem with warm-up video is that it is the time when the delivery is most consistent due to the context (which is misleading to say the least). In Scheppers' case specifically this becomes more problematic because of his arm trouble last year - one really needs to see in-game video to assess properly.

I haven't watched the video, but I wouldn't make any presumptions abotu the start and the end of a motion based on warm-up.

People over-emphasize stuff at the start and the end, whereas the middle (release point) is often just muscle memory.

It's also hard to tell how much weight he's transferring unless you have some quantitative analysis to go along with the video.

Agreed.

I think that video-rights to the actual game are probably owned by fox sports net or some garbage. If the game's televised, you're not allowed to take footage.

Based on most of Adam's video's, I'm assuming that's the case. As I just mentioned, I haven't watched the video, so maybe it is useless. heh.

Agreed. I'm really not trying to attack Adam and Lincoln at all - I thoroughly respect what they do over there - it's just the small things that I think they could enhance to take another step forward to compete with BA (and in turn offer some differing coverage - which is good for everyone). Just opinion, wasn't trying to bash.

The stuff he is posting now is from the Arizona Fall League. He can post in game action shots. He is working on a DVD full of footage and scouting from the AFL.

I am looking forward to it.

is AFL not televised on one of the millions of Channels? I just assumed it was.

I'm still pretty sure that you'd require broadcasting rights to stick that footage on the net.

I checked out his Speed data earlier this morning, which looked really solid. It seriously sucks that there's only 3 instances, or 1 in some cases.

I was hoping he'd break the players down on "out of the box" and "down the line" speed.

Other than the Rising Stars game I don't believe the games are televised at all (unless maybe local stations carry it there). I'm pretty sure that if you have your own camera footage you can use it without consent though.

I just wanted to drop by to thank you guys for the link and make it known that I'm happy to hear any suggestions for Project Prospect.

As far as the choice of video goes, we are planning on releasing a product that will include video on most of the game's top 300 prospects. It should come out within the next 60 days. We're saving a lot of our game footage for it. But the Schepper's video that I have on my YouTube channel actually is when he's facing live batters, not warming up.

Maybe I made the post above too late for this thread to get more looks. I added profile details in case anyone's looking for a way to contact me with suggestions for Project Prospect. I'm all ears.
