So here's a true 90's Bigfoot card (the ones you hear legends about but never see). It's the 1990 Upper Deck pre-production card. Only a handful of these cards were made, and only for cards #101-200 in the set, They were photographed and used for the card images on packaging and print ads of 1990 Upper Deck. On the front, the player name and position are missing, and the backs contain no stats/text and only the inset photo.

In the photos, you'll see three print ads that include the pre-production cards used in them. The Reggie ad and the group of boys ad both use the Mark Grace card as one of the examples. If you look closely, you can see that the cards don't have the position in the small upper left box, and the players' names were superimposed on the ad. A third ad featured only the Mark McGwire card, a close up shows that it is definitely a pre-production card.

On boxes of 1990 Upper Deck, pre-production card images are also used. Only difference here is that the names were superimposed and positioned on the right hand side of the card, not the left like the print ads.

For cards #101-200 (sheet 2 cards of 90 UD), the most notable names to have pre-production cards available are: Craig Biggio, Bo Jackson, Fred McGriff, Dwight Gooden, George Brett, Mark Grace, Ken Griffey Jr, Barry Larkin, Gary Carter, Mark McGwire, Tim Raines, Darryl Strawberry and Don Mattingly.

Nice to knock this one off the want list after 30 years!

Leema seems to have a great source for early UD proof stuff, I love looking through his listings.

There was someone on this board (or maybe the CU or old Beckett forums) who posted a 100ct lot of the Gary Sheffield. This was many, many years back and I haven't seen evidence of others in bulk like that but I was very impressed by it at the time.

I picked up a 89 UD Dale Murphy black boarder team checklist promo a while back. It has a blank back. Anyone have an insight into those?
I had never seen those before either.

To answer your question after way too long, nope I have never seen the Alomar from this set. And believe me I've looked. I'm starting to think that online checklists are bogus, and this card doesn't exist. Kind of like the 1996 Zenith Z-Team promos. It's been well documented that only half the alleged "checklist" was actually printed, but most checklists online still insist that the entire 18 card set was also issued as promos...when in reality it was only 9.

I may have posted this before but has anyone seen, or have, any baseball 1997 Score Franchise sample cards of Cal Ripken, Chipper Jones, Albert Belle or Roberto Alomar?

Just like the 1995 Score Samples. There is also a BLACK sample overprint (instead of white) but all I can find is the Albert Belle.

I remember a guy who's dad collected Sheffield and Terry Glenn, I think. i want to say his dad had passed away around that time and he had this huge collection and wasn't sure what to do with it. I want to say at first he was going to try to sell, but then maybe nostalgia got the best of him and he started building onto the collections. I could be off. This is a possible candidate of who would have had that 100 count lf of Sheff though.
