Good read...

You may want to revisit your #3 lesson learned. One of the great profit margins in prospecting is second year cards of top tier prospects

Ex for this year

Nolan Reimold FG Gold Refractor
Paid $5 Sold $20 - fees

Not a lot of money but easy turn around and low risk

Before I begin, I must say that this was an excellent read. I must commend you for the model that you use in going about prospecting. I feel that only the elite few maintain their "books" as well as you do, with appraisals and such, myself included. I haven't posted here in a while, but I used to be a very active member on the old bmb.

Your experiences I believe are the beginning stages of a prospector. I think most prospectors have good success at the beginning because of one thing, simplicity. Setting down some ground rules that you have found to work and sticking with them can be very valuable. I don't agree with many of the investments you made and the picking of one team aspect, but you've made some solid money. Who can argue with that?

However, as you move forward, I bet that you'll want to change up your strategy. I think many of the "big" prospectors will agree with me here, it seems as though you were a bit timid in taking risks. Every investment taken is a risk, but I’m talking about going after guys that can hit it big. Just because a player is unknown, doesn’t mean that he can’t yield big time money. In today’s market, which goes along with what you said about the fees as well, it’s hard to make solid money trying to nickel and dime. Looking for the guys who can double or triple in value are rare, but finding 1 or 2 good ones out of 5 or 6 can cover the losses of any bad investments if correctly timed. Don’t be afraid to take some more chances, you’ve done well so far, it’s time to start putting your knowledge on the line.

Regardless, good luck! Keep enjoying yourself, as that's what it's all about anyway.

Wow I just copied and pasted this read on Word and it's 7 pages long. Well, I will read this during my lunch break.

Impressive, heh?

Only took me about an hour and a half to write too. Amazing how easy it is to talk about something you have a passion for.

I am just beginning to prospect as well and this was a great read!! I am looking at other sports right now, but want to get involved in baseball when Chrome Draft comes out this year.

You have been thanked as that was very informative. I really enjoy reading about people's successes and failures in prospecting.

Thanks!
