I was curious what everyone's thoughts were when it came to a "number" grade vs. an "Authentic" grade when it involves a somewhat rare card and the actual number grade the card received. For example, which of the cards would you prefer if you could only have 1 of them and why?

Note: For those unaware, the 1982 Fleer Test Cal Ripken Jr./Dave Ford card is actually Ripken in the picture but Dave Ford's name is listed on the bottom of the card.

I am not familiar with the card or the variation with "Dave Ford" on it... but I voted for the rare Ripken with it being Authentic because I personally would rather it be slabbed and say Authentic than it be a crappy grad like a 4. That's just me and especially if it's going into my PC and never seeing the light of day again ;)

Authentic on something like that unless it would grade 8 plus.

If it's staying in my collection, I prefer an "Authentic" grade.

If modern card My personal preference is 8+ grade or Authentic

Vintage card I'd probably go to a 5+
