I don't know the EXACT story behind this, but basically a bunch of the guys from the PSA message boards chipped in together and bought a box of 86/87 Fleer Basketball for $9000+ off of Steve Hart of the BBCE. They pulled a beautiful MJ Rookie card.....

And sent it into PSA to get graded. Well i guess the card came back as evidence of trimming and i guess 3 different PSA graders are saying this. Its an interesting story to follow and see how this is gonna play out

Yeah, I'm a bit confused. $9,000 could buy about 9 PSA 9 Jordan RC's.

Im reading more of the thread, more than one MJ RC was pulled. They only sent in the best one so far. Psa has some major problems though....

Seriously?? I haven't got that far yet. So THREE psa graders call the card trimmed, all of a sudden JOE Orlando finds out that the card belongs to "his boys" on the MB who just busted a box and it gets a 9 :o :o :o I dont like that one bit.........

I think the drama is completed. The card was rejected after the opening of the pack was reported on PSA's boards. This was from a box break that the boards split among 36 different posters (or there abouts!) and they had 3 Jordans pulled from the packs. PSA rejected this card and we were so flabbergasted at this rejection because we all knew it was a genuine pulled from a pack Jordan. The person who pulled it called customer service and he was basically told to suck it! Only after a ton of emails to the PSA CEO, Joe Orlando has the card now been graded a PSA 9.

I have a hard time understanding that a card can be rejected and then instantly become a 9 overnight. I think this really speaks to PSA's credibility and I for one am going to be giving SGC my business from now on.

The only good thing that came from this is that the Baseball Card Exchange comes out looking like a rose. 3 jordans pulled from a pristine box!! At least we know he is dealing above board!

Yeah, i trust BBCE very much and have spent 25K+ with them in the last 4-5 years. But this "episode" with PSA is VERY disturbing. A card is rejected by 3 psa graders, then the company CEO gives it a 9, after he finds out it was just pack pulled on his message boards!?@!? PLEASE.... that iS Soooooooooo slimy :x  :o

Wow, i read all 18 pages of that and that is a complete joke. Especially that how all the sudden it became a PSA 9 after a big issue was made of it.

Looks like MJ psa 9's go for $1300-$1800[/quote:s0me6il2]

Wasnt it a group break though? It appears people bought into it by the pack.

If you grade enough....this will happen. I had 5 cards of all the same player rejected on a BGS order once due to evidence of trimming. I pulled the cards myself from a sealed case of BCDP the day the product was released. I sent the cards back on my next order and all were graded 9.5.

A lot is made of the grading process....at the end of the day both PSA and BGS make mistakes but 99.9% of the cards are graded appropriately. Errors exist in every company/industry at much higher rates....some even result in death. At the end of the day, we are talking about sports cards....and you need to buy the card, not the grade on the holder.

It was ran just like the box breaks here, except each person was shipped there packs directly from BBCE. You could buy any quantity of pack you want.

To be fair; PSAs CEO is also a card expert who is in charge of the Grade Reviews for grades that are being challenged. Its not like he is simply a CEO with an MBA. He knows his stuff as it relates to cards and grading.
