I just paid $128 to have 4 baseballs certified. These are four balls that I have signed in person by Derek Jeter x2 (in trenton), Bryce Harper (Lakewood) and CC (Tampa).

They reviewed all four as FAKE!

I have pics of myself in the images and now 100% that they are all legit. I am going to dispute the charge with my credit card company because i am not paying for something that they didn't do.

Has this happened to anyone here?

It happens every day.

You paid them for their opinion, you got it. You have no right to dispute the charges, but have at it.

This happened to a guy here in Phx, he got 7 balls signed by Strasburg in the Fall League a couple years back. PSA said they were all fake. I think it's a result of their signature system being too exact. It's nice to know that when you get a "yes" from PSA, thats practically set in stone that its real. On the other hand, I see tons of real auto's getting "no"'s because of their system.

PSA (and all authentication companies) make mistakes going both ways.

Fake stated as "Likely authentic" and authentic as "questionable."

They are opinions, nothing more. Of course, the opinions of JSA and PSA help drive a market and the majority of the market trusts those opinions.

The only difference is the way he signed the B.

I still have to take a pic of the CC auto

You will lose a credit card claim, you paid for an opinion and got it. Credit Card companies won't side with you since you didn't get the opinion you wanted.

I'm going to my first paid signing ever tomorrow. I'll know it's legit, and have no interest in getting it "PSA'd." I'll know it's real.

If you got them, and know they're real, that's all that should matter.

If you got them to sell, and paid someone else for their "professional opinion" just to re-sell, I have no sympathy.

Good luck with your chargeback.

Would never ever bother sending anything to them, if I got it signed and know it's real, why do I need them to tell me it might be fake?

Not true. If you never signed anything for the service, your credit card will side with you. If not, then you may have to fight.

i rarely sell what i get signed in person. I only sell when I get an extra ball signed. I would sell it to pay for the costs involved of getting the balls, gas to go to games, tickets, etc.

i dont sell them to profit.

I agree. If you saw them sign it then why do you need someone else to tell you they are real, you already know.

PSA's wording on their submission form is very detailed and written to prevent chargebacks due to "difference of opinion". You basically agree to take any opinion they give you regardless if you agree or not.

Instead of getting all super puffy about this, why not contact Joe Orlando, explain the situation and give him any proof you have that these were in person autos. I have seen him handle many of these issues with grace and to the satisfaction of the customer.

Do you really think your credit card company cares what the paper you signed says? No. I'm not saying he's right for doing a chargeback, but CC companies usually side with the buyer.

They get fees from the person running the charges so yes they care. They care if you got the product or service you paid for, in this case yes they did.

You cannot return an opinion. Its much different than an item not being as described. People should research a little bit before spending money on a service.

Exactly!

If you received these autographed balls in person for your PC, why would you need to authenticate? All I can see is most IP stalkers just want to make a flip. No wonder why most players don't want to sign. They know it's all about the resale.

I have no sympathy for anyone who authenticate auto's for resale even if they are real and an authenticator denies putting their okie dokie on the certificate.

My experience with PSA is you only send in easy autographs because they have a hard time with the more difficult ones. JSA is excellent when it comes to the difficult ones.
