psa vs sgc?

I have 8 ruth strip cards from the 1920--what would be a better option--psa or sgc?? I like that sgc cases are a little thicker but i like that psa has what appears to be a inner sleeve (at least from what I have seen with strip cards). thanks for the input

SGC is generally the best bet for pre-war cards. The main exception to the rule would be with sets which have an active PSA registry following (e.g., Goudeys or T206), since that can give a marked price bump should you sell them.

Are the Ruths W519s? PSA has only three registered sets (from two collectors) for that set, so you're probably not going to see any registry-induced bidding war. You could, however, try to get in contact with those collectors in advance if you wish to sell, and see if they might be interested in your cards, graded by PSA.

yes-one of them is the w519--it is graded sgc already. Not really interested in selling these but just wanted to know if there were pros or cons in going with psa vs sgc.

that is what i was thinking--but the inner sleeve that psa uses(at least it looks like it has it) has me thinking psa is the way to go--but i love the look of the black case that sgc uses.
can anyone verify if psa uses a inner sleeve for smaller cards like strip cards or other old prewar cards??

PSA dosent use an inner sleve, they just have different sized holders. SGC actualy has custom cut inserts for the cards

PSA uses an inner sleeve when they do not have a holder the proper size. It is a makeshift solution that is not ideal, as it allows the card to slide around inside the holder, even between the hard plastic edges in the case (i.e., those forming the dimensions of the cards that the holders were designed to contain). Many also consider the sleeves just flat ugly, hence why they are often called 'condoms'.

Honestly, there is normally not going to be a difference between PSA vs. SGC. The latter is generally credited with being better versed in pre-war issues, but for many of those sets, the research has already been done; SGC knows what a W519 is and what its variations are, so does PSA and so do the collectors who will bid if you ever decide to sell (although again, there the registry comes into play). Outside of knowledge of an issue, to the extent that one can trust anyone to offer a quantitative grade for a card, SGC and PSA come out about equal. If you prefer the SGC holders , I'd say go with SGC.

Its not selves, just plastic as it dosent cover the card. Its the same as the SGC cut inserts, they both dont cover, or do anything with the card other than keep it from moving
