PSA7 vs PSA8, dollar wise = wow!

i realize Vintage FineNines are ouit of the question wallet wize, but wow, the $ differential between a PSA7 and a PSA8 of the same card is pretty substantial

Yeah, no kidding. I recently upgraded some of my Yankee cards. I had a 71 Munson PSA 6 for which I paid around $45. I upgraded to a PSA 7 for $175. The average selling price of a PSA 8 is $991.26! I understand that since 71 Topps is condition sensitive they command high prices in higher grades, but the jump is huge. PSA 9's sell for $10,000.
