Any playoff games including single game playoffs do not count toward season average.

A game #163 officially counts towards regular season stats, crowns, titles, etc.

Really it does? thats not fair to others though is it?

Ryan Howard finished the 2007 season with 136 RBIs, one more than Matt Holliday of the Rockies. However, the Rockies had a one game playoff with the Padres, and Holliday knocked in two runs, giving him 137 the the NL RBI title (to go with his NL leading .340 BA).

Had Howard led the NL in RBIs, he would have had a 4 year streak of leading the NL in that category (from 2006-2009), becoming the only NL player in history to do so. If anyone should answer if that is fair, it should be Howard.

Incidentally, George Foster was the last NL player to lead the league in RBIs for 3 straight years.
