Question about McFarlane's?

Does anyone else think it would be a cool idea for them to do olympic athletes?Or boxing or soccer.Maybe even skateboarding or x-games stuff.Sorry I posted this in the baseball boards but I figured since there are no boards for these sports I'd do it here.

I think they certainly could and it could open up traffic for a bigger operation overseas as well since soccer is a bigger deal worldwide.They could also do the people like Spitz and Phelps, Usain Bolt, Hope solo, Pele, and the Iron Man winners.This is something I was wondering about tonight and I think it could make them a lot of money and they could appeal a lot more globally.

I also think they could benefit from some WBC figurines as well.Has anyone heard about any of these things or any plans on this front maybe?

Kenner Starting Lineups tried this in the mid-'90s and it was a monumental failure.
There just isn't a big enough market, at least in the US, for this type of figure.
Kenner's international soccer figure line ended up at 99 cent stores and Kaybee toy closeout bins in the US.
And the olympic figures were left unsold on Toys 'R' Us and Walmart shelves for years.

But nowdays...especially with all of the attention Phelps drew added on to the detail the McFarlane figures have...I see cash cow.Best release time has probably already passed but they could go with the start of the world cup and also before the olympics start again as well.I know I'd throw down some cash on some phelps stuff and also especially if they do the boxed scene type sets where they recreate a part of the sporting event.Maybe the finish of races and whatnot.


Lets face it...SLU lacked in quality.It played itself out.Now while McFarlane doesn't lack in quality...without something fresh to come along it may die out due to collectors getting peeved about the same molds being used for just athletes of 4 sports and nothing more.

I had the Michael Johnson (sprinter) with golden shoes. I always wanted Olga Korbut because I thought it was a hillarious name (I was like 6). I remember the Olympic ones sitting in the clearance bin of Hills/Ames when they went out of business.
