I just checked Mitch Canham's page on MiLB.com. He has been in AA San Antonio all year. But now it says he is in the AFL Peoria Saguaros. Isn't that a demotion?

I'm confused why a player who has only went up the minor league ladder, go back to the fall league.

Maybe I'm just looking too much into this though.

Re: Question about minor league class

Fall League is sort of a 'finishing school' for players teams are looking at to play in the Major Leagues in the near future.

It is not to be confused with a demotion, but one more step for a player to smooth out the rough edges.

Most if not all of the top rookies in Major League Baseball each year have played in the Fall League, at least a year or two before they have reached the Major Leagues for the first time.

Thanks. So it is a good thing for Mitch then. They probably want him to work on his throwing people out trying to steal bases.
