Question about retail issues

I've been going through my Jerod Mayo collection and beckett lists 6 different retail releases from 2008.

2008 Donruss Gridiron Gear Retail #142 Jerod Mayo RC /999
2008 Donruss Threads Retail Rookies #193 Jerod Mayo RC /999
2008 Donruss Threads Retail Blue #193 Jerod Mayo /350
2008 Donruss Threads Retail Green #193 Jerod Mayo /200
2008 Donruss Threads Retail Red #193 Jerod Mayo
2008 SP Authentic Retail #121 Jerod Mayo RC

The color variations in Threads only show retail versions, so that is easy enough. Beckett only lists a retail version of SP Authentic, so unless someone knows otherwise I'll assume there is only one version of that card. So how do you tell the difference between Gridiron Gear, Threads and their retail counterparts?

I'm not 100% positive, but I think it comes down to the foil used on the card or not.

Thanks, that clears up that one. I guess I have the hobby version, and haven't seen the retail version yet.

Just to confirm what Tim said, the foil on the card, that gives it that rainbow effect, is the hobby version.

yep they got it. Also, I hate the retail only parallels (Blue, Green, Red) because they never show up on ebay. Out of the 5 Ben Obomanu non 1/1's I need to have one of ever non 1/1, 2 are retail. On Tapp, three are retail... It sucks.
