Question about the 1989 Donruss & Fleer Griffey RCs.

Does anyone know when or where the photos on the cards were taken? Griffey didn't make his debut until 1989 opening day and I'm sure the cards were made before then. I also don't recall those 2 companies including minor leaguers in their sets. It's possible they were from spring training but even then I doubt that.

Definitely pre-1989 for the photos. Both were released well before Spring Training. A 1988 photo similar to his Donruss card emerged a couple years ago.

Loads of Donruss cards with "NO MAJOR LEAGUE RECORD" on the back. Heck Andy Nezelek had cards in 1989 & 1990 Donruss, and never made it to the majors.
