Hi all,

I have had good experiences buying on comc, but was wondering if there are any big negatives to selling on the site.

Advice on becoming a seller?

Any tips on getting the most for my cards there?

the only negative for a seller is that you have to put your inventory in thier hands

so you can't list it on ebay or other sites at the same time

you can't pack it up and take it to a show with you

They have upside too, if you want an automated selling experience. As a buyer there, I love that you never get screwed by the seller.

The only negative thing so far is that buyers can cancel their offer at anytime (which they can on eBay with BO). I have only had cards in my account for about a week and have had about 5-10 people make an offer then cancel it before I had a chance to review it.

Yes, that is the best part. The cards are basically in escrow and as soon as you buy them, they are in your inventory.

I am thinking that the storage/listing fees on comc are fine.

So far, looks like the biggest positive as a seller would be not having to pack and ship each card when it sells.

Chris, actually you can sell items you have at COMC on Ebay.

If you have a scan saved already, or I believe there is a way to use thier scans. All an Ebay seller would have to do is sell on Ebay and instead of shipping from home change your ship to address to the winner of your auction and then card gets shipped directly to the buyer $3.50 for the first card I believe.

Seems risky. What if someone purchases the card on comc before the ebay auction ends?

The first negative to selling on COMC is the wait time (2 months for the basic rate of $0.15/card). I sent in over 600 cards 5 weeks ago and still have 4 weeks until they will be posted. My account was already charged the ~$100 in fees, so it's quite a wait before I'll recoup any of that money.

Otherwise, I love COMC and have had great buying experiences on there.

Hadn't thought about the wait time; assumed it was only about a month. Well, still seems like a pretty good option for me.

Better get some stuff ready to go.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate these and any future responses!

My selling experience has been better then I expected. I think the key is setting a reasonable price. I don't cash out so the fees are extremely reasonable compared to ebay and I don't have to mess with shipping. I don't think I'll ever go back to eBay.

the only negative to selling there I could see would be the wait to get your cards up versus paying up front for them and the fact that sending cards they already have multiple copies of in stock already that aren't moving and having to undercut the price to gain the potential sale. I would think that sending in numbered inserts would be a huge plus along with more popular players and cards that if not numbered they don't have currently in stock.

For example I search for Canseco and there are like 60 copies of the 86 topps traded and about the same for the fleer update.. why as a seller even send in one of those with all that are unsold already.. cost you money for nothing. also people sending in the common late 80's cards of all manufacturers.. why waste your time and money with cards that will never sell no matter how cheap? On the other hand there has been a guy posting lots of Pacific cards not often seen and even though not numbered if the price is right I scoop them up for my PC.
