Yea...and look who's number 2 with 0.94. Between Dickey and Cain their numbers almost have no statistically significant difference. The only difference at this point is one has a Perfect Game and one has a contested No Hitter.

Outside of how they finish the year I think Dickey's other obstacle could be Johan Santana. While his 3-3 record isn't going to draw any notice the fact that he did throw the first NYM no hitter in history (and East Coast records are more important than anyone else's apparently) he might draw a vote or two away from Dickey depending on how he finishes.

It's too early to say for everyone. Johan isn't pitching as dominantly today. Already 3 ER's given up. I'm guessing that we'll be discussing this again in August. :)

Yes Frank, but you can't give a pitcher the Cy Young for one night of work. We'll see if the Giants can give Cain enough run support this year to be a contender for the award.
Run support doesn't matter for Cy Young though. See- Felix Hernandez' 13-12 Cy Young winning record.

And the year that Tim Lincecum won with 15–7 record, 2.48 ERA and 261 strikeouts over Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright despite those two pitchers having better win-loss record.

Cain has to be up for consideration as well!

8-2 2.18 ERA .853 WHIP! Leads NL in WHIP and IP

I could've swore this was going to be a post about supporting Lincecum for the Cy Young.

Adam Jones posted this last night on his twitter

@SimplyAJ10: Can't lie but @RADickey43 is filthy right now.

It can go either way. A lot of people thought Randy Johnson got robbed in 2004.

Roger Clemens 18-4 2.98ERA 214IP 218SO 1.157 WHIP
Randy Johnson 16-14 2.60ERA 245IP 290SO 0.900 WHIP

Both players gave up exactly the same number of Earned runs, 71. The main difference was Clemens received 4.81 runs per game while Randy Johnson received 3.56

It usually seems like whoever has the most wins gets it, except if its Chris Carpenter ;)

Whatever anyone else said in this thread is irrelevant - right now, as shocking as it sounds, R.A. Dickey would win the Cy Young. Whether or not he keeps it up all season is a different question altogether, but right now he leads in every triple crown pitching stat as well as these:

1st in wins
1st in winning percentage
1st in WHIP
1st in Strikeouts (!!!!)
Tied for 1st in ERA
1st in WPA
Tied for 4th in WAR
7th in K/9
12th in BB/9
5th in K/BB
3rd in K%
3rd in batting ave against

Case closed.

Right now, if the season ended, he would win. It would be great if he can keep it up after what he revealed in the off-season.

Yeah it's really not even close right now. Dickey would win it hands down, I bet you unanimously at this point. But we still have 3 1/2 months to go and anything could happen. If Votto wasn't absolutely crushing it, Dickey would be my pick for MVP.
