A great anecdote from the original obituary from the New York Daily News:

"When asked one time by Orioles outfielder Pat Kelly if he wanted to participate in team chapel and "walk with the lord," Weaver famously replied: "No thanks. I'd rather walk with the (bleeping) bases loaded."

Didn't Weaver also grow tomatoes in the bullpen for a few years?

Earl and Pat Santarone, the Orioles groundskeeper at the time, used to have a contest to see who could grow the larger tomatoes in the foul corner of the outfield down the left field line. Rumor was that during the Preakness week in 1973, Earl sent the batboy to follow Secretariat around at Pimlico and scoop up horse droppings for Earl to use as fertilizer for the tomatoes, and allegedly growing the largest tomatoes ever grown in the state of Maryland.
