The local show is in town this weekend at the Kerr Scott Building at the state fairgrounds. I'm setting up to sell for my 1st show since I did a small hotel show in Fayetteville back in 1996. I'm going to have $1 boxes, $0.25 boxes, and $0.10 boxes. People really seem to enjoy digging thru those sorts of boxes looking for stuff.

$1 boxes are misc. inserts/parralels, the $0.25 boxes are basically lower end inserts/parralels, and the $0.10 boxes are all star base cards.

But, the main thing I'm hoping to sell will be grab bags. The grab bags each have 3 cards - 1 rookie, 1 game used or auto, and 1 serial #ed card. Going to be selling the grab bags for $5 each.

I'm also going to try selling bubble mailers. I've never seen any for sale at this show, so don't know if they will be a hot item or a bust.

Anybody planning to sell or attend? If so, I hope to see you there.

Hey bud,

I had hoped to go with LaneyB this weekend. I am going to have to work unfortunately. I am going to try to make the one in late January though. Any chance you are going to be at that one?

Normally the December show is pretty darn good for both sellers and buyers.

If my sales are decent, I'll set up again. If not, I'll definately by going as a buyer. I agree that the December show is real nice.

Forgot to mention that Huggins & Scott is going to be at the December one just in case somebody wants to consign something.

Wish I could make it, but as Mox said, its a bit to long of a drive for me as well (Kingsport, TN).

Good luck with your sales.

edwards_everything - I know Cary and the Raleigh area fairly well.... well, let me correct that... I did a couple of years ago when we were back and forth to that area somewhat often, its been a while now, but could probably find my way around. My wife and I came to Cary to watch Ben Harper and Jack Johnson perform at an outside theater in college. That was the absolute best concert we have ever been too. Do you know the Fuquay-Varina area? We have quite a few friends in that area.

Funny seeing a thread about an NC show. First time I've recognized all these cities mentioned. Most of the time these are all about NY.

I'm originally from Greensboro so I've stomped around the Piedmont Triad and Raleigh area shows all my life. Its a good time to go to the bigger shows in the middle part of the state.

How good are they usually? I've never been before to the ones in the Raleigh area. What would I be looking at if I went?

The December show is normally chocked full of prospects and stuff with the release of BDP. There are a good amount basketball especially bobcats stuff and hockey is a big pull as well with a ton of Canes stuff. Football is pretty strong. There have been some pretty big spenders in years past that have actually set up at the show, then they went around and bought up a ton of stuff. The last one I went to last year, there was a guy from Chicago that set up on Friday. He went around, bought up a ton of singles and high end stuff, packed his **** and then left on Saturday morning.

You can normally find a pretty good variety of stuff from low end to high end. There is a good amount of wax there and there are also so big time memorabilia dealers there to with some really nice autographed pieces.

Right next to Cary. Good luck with your shopping at the show if you are able to make it!

Thanks for the kind words. I have to agree that I wouldn't drive all the way from Tennessee just for this show. Unfortunately, don't know anything about the Fuquay-Varina area other than a couple of my co-workers live there. I'll bring home a list of the upcoming show dates in 2009, so you can combine a visit with your friends on a weekend that has a show.

That pretty much describes the show in a nutshell. This show Huggins & Scott will also be there.
