I'd go near $300 for a Cirillo. Probably $150ish for Vaughn or Burnitz. Depends on my mood and bank account I guess, haha

Fandruw25: Mine looks the same way. I'm not really sure how a refractor could be faked.

Onionring: Yep...mine is a touch sideways too.

BunchOBull: Keep up the great work Ross. Amazing how far you guys have gotten.

HawaiianLance:  Great points!

goldenegg1: Braves2008champs is a Chipper collector.

Two similar looking cards, but huge difference in rarity:

1996 Fleer Tiffany Barry Bonds (1 per pack)

1997 Fleer Tiffany #174 Paul O'Neill (1:20 packs)
A tough find, thanks again to Magicpapa for helping me acquire this one.

i cannot believe how cheap all of those FPP went last night!

i hope all our FCBers were able to get their players!

Dreamerfan won the Walker, which went for more than any of the others last night. Thenumberonemetfan - you outbid me for that Alou, I put a small bid seeing if I could steal it. Congrats on the great price.

DAMNIT!!!!

Yes for me but it is great that he won it if it wasn't me, it really belongs in his collection anyway. I'll look at it this way, next time one comes up I'll get it for a lot less... maybe.

Oh yeah a lot cheaper and its all yours my friend

id gladly pay $30 for Jefferies

damn i wish they'd come around more often

What's funny is I had planned on bidding $51.88 but at the last minute I changed my mind and only bid $31.88. My thinking was it only books for $8 surely $31 is enough. Boy I'm I an idiot. Oh well lesson learned and I'm ready for the next time.[/quote:3urpxig0]

I had a snipe set at 75 for it. Thanks for saving me money

I hope they do. It books for $8 and with Walker stuff they usually set the bin at about 110% of book, so it would be around $10. I'm OK with that.

Not exactly "rare", but fun. Took two 1995 Leaf inserts to form a complete Slideshow. Note: I peeled off one of the protective coats and left the other one attached.

What exactly is an artist proof ?

It's a term from the fine art world.

When high quality reproductions of art are commissioned (usually multiple-color lithographs, today's digital processes references the 'Giclee' method) the artist will oversee the production. Once the right qualities have been achieved the first batch will be pulled and given to the artist - his/her "proofs". They're often signed and numbered and offered to collectors who want something beyond the standard print.

Supposedly, when this term was first used by Pinnacle Brands, the photographer was on hand to watch when the printing was done. But like so many 'branding' techniques, like Topps' so-called 'First Day Issue', it's likely that nothing special was done beyond adding a foil stamp. <g>

Ditto. <nodding>

I actually purchased one from my dealer, paying some ridiculous amount since it was "one of only 1,000 printed!" - with heavy emphasis on the exclamation point. Even though the foiling wasn't done properly as it was flaking a bit on one corner.

One of my first forays into contacting a card manufacturer was with this card. Long story short - they sent my damaged copy back. Still have it, though I've since added a mint copy for the pc. <g>
