Thanks stinks man, another one will appear. When it rains in pours. I missed out on two before I was finally able to win this one (I bid $150 and it ended at $24 and change. All three were listed within 6 months of each other.

Oh believe me I was, I already had the others in the set. The first one I simply forgot about auction ended for $60 and change. The second my girlfriends laptop froze with 36 seconds left and the card ended for $12.99. I wasn't going to let the third one slip by no matter what. It is by far one of the best looking cards in my collection.

Brother, i must say....

i have no idea of your age, but im guessing under 25, i dont know why im guessing that, but i am lol

i have nothing but respect for you and your collection. I know that there are others with possibly a more "complete" player collection (and maybe they dont have the (dis)advantage? of going back and completing it now), but damnit if your collection isnt 150% amazing!

Thank you very much, I am very proud of my collection and love sharing it with other collectors who enjoy seeing it as well. I actually just finished scanning EVERY card in my collection, 1 by 1, and currently updating my webpage to have a 100% updated page with scans. I have been slowing down on my buying habits for money and other reasons and still very much enjoying adding that "one" card. I actually think I have 9 of my 10 most wanted cards (1 of the 9 is incoming) I actually do not know what I will do if I get that #10 (2003 Leaf Certified Materials Mirror Emerald Patch /5, and possibly the Mirror Black Auto from that set but 1/1's can't be on my top wantlist as they are stroke of luck if they ever appear again). I started collecting Chavez at the end of 2001 at the age of 15. I am now 21 turning 22 on Friday. I feel lucky to have built my collection 99.9% on my own efforts and wages and I think that is why I am so proud of it. I'm closing in on 3000 different cards and will hopefully be able to reach that by mid next year.

Nope but I really want to know who it was.It sucks ebay doesnt let you see the name anymore.
No way it was some random buyer. The card was untouched for a long time and when I post it on the boards it gets hit.
needless to say im pretty mad.

That's why I bought the Purple Crusade when I did. I didn't want to wait another 3 years for it to show up again.

So this past weekend I went to my parents house and picked up most my cards from my upbringing. I know these aren't the rarest, but here are some of my favorites, for various reasons:

and a few more:

and this is one of, if not the favorite card in my collection:

That sucks, but thats the exact reason I try not to list any extremely rare cards I'm going after, especially if they are on ebay.

[Does anyone know when Pinnacle switched their promos from clipped corners to SAMPLE written across them?

This is one of those things that fall into the 'weird-but-they-did-it' category.

Score/Pinnacle started using "Sample" as early as 1994 and for the most part used it fairly consistently until the very end in 1998.

To the best of my knowledge - and I may have forgotten over the years - IIRC 1995 was the only year they did that. (cutting a corner off their promo cards) And even that wasn't consistent as I believe only the Statistical Standouts were cut. Other '95 Sample/Promos had the typical overprinted "Sample" to indicate a pre-release issue.

It's my belief they did that for Standouts because it was a highly anticipated insert that, for its time, was the cutting edge (no pun intended) of baseball card design/production; and Pinnacle wanted to keep the fact it was fully embossed with the surface of an actual baseball for as long as they could to achieve the biggest impact when collectors busted hobby boxes of '95 Leaf. Why cutting a corner would prevent that is, again, a question that falls into the 'weird-but-they-did-it' category.

i lost it...

Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that dude. I once forgot to place a bid on a Cirillo Masterpiece. It went unsold for 19.99. It got relisted about 6 months later and I got outbid by about $30. I vowed never to be outbid on another 1/1 of his and to never underestimate the 90's/Legacy collectors.
