The major issue I see for RAZOR and baseball cards is that for any current, past, or future product to be sucessful they need to build credibility with the market in that specific arena. Selling grab bag style 'best of' products and the errant Ali or Family Guy niche product is not doing it. For any real secondary value there needs to be a solid and consistant presence and so far his baseball prospect product releases have been lost in a sea of other offerings. I had a conversation with BG about a year ago and he stated then he intends to keep up with a consistant and yearly release(s) of a baseball prospect product so this should/could add validity eventually. However, if year in and year out they are simply an offering lost in a sea of niche type stuff then all hope may be lost. To make it in the baseball card market you need to get a strong foot hold and have good focus on what your doing, keeping your customers satisfied throughout the year, year in and year out. I just do not see RAZORs current trend of releasing one or 2 parallel releases yearly, and among a myriad of other offerings that have little to do with current baseball or even surrent sports for that matter, building credibility.

Do I think some of these cards could have value eventually, either when a player gets hot or in the long haul as MLB established stars come through? Sure, but as of now his main target which is prospectors are not impressed in the least. Not that I mind as I will pick up cheap auto's of decent players here and there because I think the cards, like Valiant, are actually pretty decent looking.

I realize there is one exception, and was going to include that in my first post but I still dont think Miley makes up for all the people who bought Wieters, Alonso, Beckham, Castro, Santana, Lawrie, etc.

As the buyer of 6 of the 28 Wieters Gold Autos off ebay I would concur. ::facepalm::

Luckily I didn't get back into cards until early 2010. I didn't have anything Leaf, but bought both Eric Hosmer gold /2 autos in February 2011, for like $140 combined-and sold them for $600+ 3 months later. So I guess count me among the lucky who wasn't around when Razor Signature series was released-otherwise I'm sure I would have been buying a few different players.

Kind of comical that some people can't move on.

Embarrassing really.

Not sure who this was in reference to, but if it was directed at me, I find that comical. I was starting a discussion since I stumbled upon an auction of a card that, at one point, sold for $100 and now sells for under $5. If it was a Matt LaPorta card, I would have done the same thing. Just because it is a "Razor thread" doesn't mean you need to get in defensive mode.

If it isn't directed at me, well, carry on.

Listen, I'm the last one here you have to worry about being a Razor lover, but I'm not a hater either. I just see many decent cards of a limited nature that can be had for $5 to $10 all day. 5 or 10 years down the line if these players turn in to the next Jeters, Howards, Pujols' type players, even these cards will be worth something.

Hmm, makes me think that maybe Razor isn't cheap but rather the alternatives are over priced...

The boards are definitely getting fun again. The return of some active, long time posters; contentious arguments about prospects who aren't performing as expected; cheap shots against Razor (a company totally unrelated to Leaf, btw).

Happy days are here again!

You might also want to add morons who don't fully understand the meaning of I told you so (meaning they are on the wrong side of it despite thinking they were right all along). :o

I kind of got out of the hobby (stopped buying anyway) right about the time Razor first started releasing products. Just kinda came back to the board/hobby a few weeks back and realized razor had already completely disappeared, definitely glad I didn't stick around long enough to buy some.

And a hearty "welcome back."

Only thing we will hear from him is the same spin as always!

"Leaf is no longer affiliated with Razor.", " I will buy that for X amount of dollars because I have more money than you.", and "How about a contest!".

Yep, I remember you sold off yours JP. So W would be the only one I know of that would own a complete set of rare color versions. Unless he sold them off, or if some unkown collector has put one together some sets under the radar.

I managed to break even on Razor Signature Series, mostly due to hitting 2 of the 5 Hosmer Black Autos.

As for dragging Leaf into this, I'm up over $1800 on a $6000+ investment into Leaf Valiant and I still have an enormous amount of stock left that is comprised of great players like Starling, Bundy, Bauer, etc. Valiant was a GREAT product. Looking forward to it again this year.

It's a great product because it is a QUALITY product. It is attractive and therefore demand is higher. I don't know why anyone would want to own any of that Razor product in their PCs.

Wasn't directed at you, although I do like the thought of me in defensive mode regarding Razor.

Probably because people sunk thousands into this stuff not too long ago and arent happy at all the false promises and bs that went on with it

It blows my mind that people on this site keep buying his products...cannot even believe that members act cordially to him on here.
