They are going to destroy the unsold cards at the National. It may take a couple of days to do this. They should set up some gimmick at their booth. Pay $1 and you get to torch a 100 razor metal cards.

Carnival style shooting games. Instead of ducks going across the booth it's razor metal cards that you get to fire at.

Who do you think of the some of the slow sellers would be good one's to score if sales stay low. Hicks and Cooper might be nice investments.

haha, that's actually not a bad idea. I''m sure there are some people on this board that may drive up there just to do that.

Some of the Sig Series and/or Letterman autos are going for less than
the metal singles so I am not sure what will be of more value down the road

Ethan Martin- 984
Gordan Beckham- 866
Jason Castro- 975

That's going to be a pretty big fire if sales don't pick up.

If nothing else moved.... they would be taking 20,000 cards to the National.... just to destroy them.

I dont think any of the base metals are going to be good investments even if the quantities sold stays low. The blue parallels are barely selling, some of which only with a handful of bids on them. If those are severe SP they could be a nice investment.

Well, considering that the metal cards are not numbered, not signed and are being sold in a mannor not condusive to resale (any time soon), and also considering that they are a nitch product with little following (see sales thus far) and I can only assume that any kind of legitimate auto is going to have much more appeal in the future than some obscure card no one has ever heard of.

Agreed. I doubt any of the metal cards are going to have immediate price increases, but if/when the player plays well, they could be the cards to have.

Guys,
If a guy hits in the Metal product, I believe that there will be way more demand than supply on almost any of these cards. I know from speaking to Brian, he secretly hopes many of these players do not sell out so that those who purchase will be rewarded for their confidence.

For thoes who are indeed buying in, I hope this as well. However, many in this set have allready 'hit' as far as popularity and demand but there still selling at, what I consider, a very slow pace specific to this release. I fail to see how anything could generate more demand that prospector hype.

I just think the method of delivery and sample size will ultimately be the downfall of this product. Prospector hype usually dictates the most generous rewards, but still the sales are low. Without a large enough sample size and attention by the masses, there is never going to be the type of demand you would see from a well known and/or established brand name with simmilar sample size(s).

I think these can and will do really well with player collectors and prospectors that know of them, but beyond that, where the real money resides (through mass demand), I do not think these will ever reach.

Serial numbering the cards would have been a huge plus. Even if the cards couldn't be sent until the auction had ended, and they were SN to the number sold, i would have been fine with that.

Adam, do you think the blues will sell out? THey don't appear to have much action on them

Red,
I do indeed think most will..
We honestly would like to see some not sell out to reward guys who buy across the board, so when the guy hits, so will they.

Too bad some philosophy wasn't used to reward those who had confidence in Sig Series. Instead, those who had confidence in Sig Series got the shaft handed to them when they were promised that Metals would NOT be same exact design but in the end were.

Adam, what is your opinion on the promised plan to destroy all unsold Metal cards at the National?

Well, you cant say that the designs of the metals were exact because they were, in fact, not EXACT

But I do know and agree with where youre coming from.

And I am still half/half about the shredding, but Im not gonna give my opinion until National

Meh, i believe distinction was supposed to feature only new players so i dont really see how not producing it keeps the value of the metal cards and more than they would have been with a distinction release but i wasn't going to be able to afford it anyways so i guess it doesn't matter to me, lol

Wow, so the truth of the matter is that you guy's are nixing Distinction to make the Metal product more profitable in the present (trying to make it more appeasing since there aren't many bids)? If so I somewhat understand seeing this as a business and all, because if the current amount of Metal (or even with a bit more sold) there will not be demand for these in the future as they will be an "unknown" & an "oddball"-if you will.... Sure scarcity is great for card's that are in circulation, but these will be so few that they may be conceived as a gimmick (which in my opinion would make them irrelevant to the prospecting world). And Brian did say that the leftover's will be "scrapped" (he didn't guarantee it would be at the National but he did guarantee that they'd be scrapped)... :?
